Re: [Boatanchors] NEW estate list - more coming I'm sure
Packing and shipping heavy gear is a LOT of work. I know because I've been selling off years of accumulated gear that I will never get to. You have to price it on the lower end of "reasonable," and be willing to pack it. I don't want my XYL to have to deal with this. It is so much work that the simplest route is the landfill. That is especially true of parts like transformers. Taking things to the "UPS Store" and having them pack it is prohibitively expensive unless something is really valuable. Having said that, I still can't help myself from picking up mor bargains. 73, George W7HDL - Original Message - From: "cemilton--- via Boatanchors" <boatanchors@puck.nether.net> To: <rayfr...@msn.com>; <boatanch...@mailman.qth.net>; <boatanchors@puck.nether.net>; <boatanch...@theporch.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 16, 2017 6:19 PM Subject: Re: [Boatanchors] NEW estate list - more coming I'm sure Will the seller ship the gear Seems lately that "non-shipping" is a big issue with some. Here is the complete message: The daughter continues to inventory what her dad left behind with his passing, but here is an updated list I've put together from what I've seen so far. For those who have inquired, the equipment is located in Toledo, Ohio. She is more interested in getting the items to those who will use them, instead of buying them just to flip them. I am simply trying to help her out because she knows almost nothing about ham radio and is asking my help in identifying items that are ham related and what my thoughts are on their potential. She has already declined an estate buyer offer for everything because she knows the buyer would just double prices and flip them. Part of the problem is that her dad was also into stereo equipment, so we have to single them out from the ham related stuff. Her dad was employed in the electronics field for many years and has some equipment that goes back to the 60s, and comes forward to some of the most recent stuff sold like an IC 7600. I'm sure there will be more coming, but here's what I have seen so far... Chuck .. I've discussed with her the no shipping problem. She understands that shipping will be necessary and has not objected. However, since is in uncharted waters with all this stuff and because there is SO MUCH of it, I have advised her that the best thing to do for shipping is to take it to a UPS store and let them pack and ship. It will be the simplest for her and less overwhelming. I know that will add a bit to the price, but I've told her that buyers will take that into account when making offers. Hope that helps...
