Re: [boinc_dev] BOINC 7.2.11 doesn't detect AVX
Did this ever get fixed/added to boinc? If not, when? I have an IB i7, with the win7 64 and all the latest patches, and BOINC 7.2.42. But it still does not show AVX. 3/1/2014 6:37:23 AM Starting BOINC client version 7.2.42 for windows_x86_64 3/1/2014 6:37:23 AM Processor: 8 GenuineIntelIntel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz [Family 6 Model 58 Stepping 9] 3/1/2014 6:37:23 AM Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 popcnt aes syscall nx lm vmx tm2 pbe 3/1/2014 6:37:23 AM OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Professional x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) Thanks, Erik On Aug 25, 2013, at 5:20 AM, Jord van der Elst els...@gmail.com wrote: Rom Walton, from the other thread: I've held off putting this into 7.2 for now. So when for instance in 2014 there will be CPUs available with FMA3 and FMA4, you'll first need a new BOINC capable of detecting those options before that same BOINC will report them. Even having code added to the source code does not automatically mean that any of the presently available BOINC versions is capable of reporting that CPU option. The BOINC with the code in it will first have to be built be available for download. Which in this case, it hasn't. It'll be in a 7.2 version, AFTER 7.2.11, as soon as the developers port it to the 7.2 branch. If you can't wait, you can build a newer BOINC from Master. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/changeset/9b2d0f992f6669d31d1996c4fc105ce22324445b/boinc-v2 shows that Rom added the change on the 22nd of July 2013 to the Master branch.
