I have 2 Booms from way back - both in perfect working order (although rubbery front & top panel encrusted with dust which seems impossible to remove). My dad's HiFi from the 60's is still very much operational. iphones become obsolete because of the non-replacable battery being cycled every day, and Apple's relentless software updating making it sluggish and soon not supportable. Boom has neither of those things. The Boom is much more akin to a piece of audio equipment than to an iphone, and frankly I think it very reasonable to expect it to have lasted quite a lot longer than it has. Dodgy PSU connectors, fading display, tacky front panel, knackering speakers. Pretty bad TBH. Perhaps because it was never all that expensive, it's somewhat excusable, but not to have a lifespan of 3 years and people thinking it's done really well to just about still be on life support after 10. .. and just to be clear I am a confirmed boom fan, with several of them in the house. Just a matter of opinion on Logitech's product quality (and of course their idiocy in EOLing the whole product set) tin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7125 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110803 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom

A faulty one, how long are you using it? But replacement some components inside might help and cheap. douglass.steven's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69000 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110803 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom

There are many threads use google to search - something like "site:forums.slimdevices.com wlan card " or "site:forums.slimdevices.com wifi card " Here is a post by a user with link to instructionb hwo to disassemble Boom and a link (now dead) to a card https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106395-Solution-to-revive-a-Squeezebox-Boom-with-failing-WiFi=867911=1#post867911 This is a thread I started with "compatible" cards https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?95513-Compatible-WLAN-cards-for-SB3-Boom-Reciever-amp-Transporter You can buy new TP-Link card but may be harder to find. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110803 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom
Re: [SlimDevices: Boom] Boom is a magnificent unstable peace of garbage
The WLAN card in Boom, SB2, Sb3, Classic,Transporter and Receiver often fails but in a gradual erratic way - one way oftens reset the device after a few minutes. The WLAN card is easy and cheap ($/£/5-10) to replace. PSU failure (i.e low voltage/current) can also result in strange behaviours but as Boom can tolerate a wide range of voltage compared to SB3/Classic, it is not as common a failure The Boom is doing very well for its age - it was released same time as iPhone 4 - how many iPhone 4s are in use ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=110803 ___ Boom mailing list Boom@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/boom

[SlimDevices: Boom] Boom is a magnificent unstable peace of garbage
Always regarded the Boom a very unstable and unreliable, but now it has decided to take this to a new level. It restarts, hangs, becomes sluggish. Yes, I have turned the power off for several minutes and yes, I have restarted the LMS. My Touch and Radio work fine. Any suggestions apart from throwing it out of the window?
