[Braillenote] Fw: [duxuser] Re: ONE MORE QUESTION (Bullets and UK Braille)

2007-08-27 Thread Stefan Slucki
Hi Terry and list,

and of course, if list-members choose the U.E.B. table (some might,
some might not) it has in-built dedicated symbols to display boldface,
italics and underlined letters, words or phrases--as the case may be.

Oh, by the way, the bullets symbol is also dots 4,5,6 immediately
followed by dots 2,5,6.

Regards;
Stefan Slucki.

If you are an English (British) braille user, please read
on.

In 2004 BAUK (the Braille Authority of the U.K.) introduced
an official Bullet sign. Dots 4,5,6 followed by dots 2,5,6.
The full list of changes can be obtained at
http://www.bauk.org.uk/pubs.htm.

Therefore, if you are using a DBT English (British) Braille
Template containing the new rules, a Bullet point will be
correctly imported from Word without any need to make
changes in Word or DBT.

George Bell.

Your bullets will be automatically dropped when you import
into Duxbury. So, you don't have to worry about them. If you
want a character to represent them in your file, just type
it in and ignore the presence of the bullets in the Word
document.

If you want to have a clean Word file anyway, and if the
document has actual bullet symbols, copy the bullet into the
clipboard, paste it into the find field in search and
replace, and type in your new character in the replace edit
box.

If the Word file has used a style such as Bulleted List,
then simply change the style to List. Add in any characters
you want at the beginning of each item.

I do like the list style because it is the easiest,
however, sometimes I am asked to keep the bullets in the
text. Steve's idea of changing in the dxp file will work but
I'd like to do this before translating if possible. Any
thoughts?
Thanks
Judi

Judi,

If you use Word's BANA template, you can also use
the style already created for CBC.

If you are following BANA rules, you won't retain
bullets in braille. Use a list style for any item that
normally has a bullet.

Susan

Thanks for the
compinlline suggestion. Steve I could not make your
suggestion work in Word but that could be that it's 11
O'clock. And one more problem, at least for this evening.
,
I need to translate bullets
to (--) in Word. This may be a Word issue but I do not have
a clue. I looked in search and replace and the MORE BUTTON
but could not find anything specific to bullets.
Thanks for suggestions and
the help that everyone on this list gives out .
Judi
