install command
Hi, I am trying to use the install command for OpenNMS. The instructions say use the two options: -i and -u, but they are not available in with this command. The command is showed like this: install -disU. For some reason I have not be able to get any results, so I am helping you can help with this. Unfortunately there is very little information there to be able to help you. GNU install does not support all of those options. I checked the BSD man page for install too and neither does it support -U or -i. Who is to say what the author of whatever it is you are trying to do was intending? You mentioned -u but then showed -U. Generally upper and lower case are different options and the difference is significant. Re: Install command
Please send us the commands that you're using to perform the install, along with exactly what they print out. Ideally, do cut-and-paste from the terminal window (you are typing at a shell prompt?) to your email client's composition buffer. Also please send us the output from install --version. Also, please explain what you mean by looking up the help. Do you mean that you typed install --help and had trouble figuring out what to do? Did you try info install? --Steve Augart |-+--- | | Des Cavin | | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | | Sent by:| | | bug-coreutils-bounces+augart=us.ibm.| | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | | | | | | | | 20/10/2003 00.42| | | Please respond to des.cavin | | | | |-+--- ---| | | | To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | cc: | | Subject: Install command | | | ---| I am trying to install Adobe Rdr on SuSE 8.2 but it keeps advising 'too few arguments' when I look up the 'help' it is not explicit as to what is an argument and what is an option.
