The environment is fast-paced and dynamic and requires a passion for technology and solving problems. *Job responsibilities include:* • Administration, management, and tuning of the following components: Cloudera/Hadoop, Couchbase, Cassandra, Storm, Kafka, Spark, Solr or similar technologies • Assist development staff in identifying the root cause of slow performing jobs / queries • Work with 3rd party vendors to troubleshoot as necessary • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to coordinate OS-level patching and to identify and solve hardware related issues • Capacity Planning / Forecasting • Develop strategy to automate management and deployment processes (DevOps) • Deploying to all platform components • Planning and conducting platform upgrades • Work with development staff to ensure all components are ready for release / deployment • Limited configuration management including git merges, cutting release branches and general management of the codebase *Required Skills* • Strong UNIX/Linux knowledge including the ability to understand the interaction between applications and the operating system and to provide recommendations and suggestions related to troubleshooting and performance improvement. • Experience administering a reasonably-sized Hadoop cluster (20+ nodes). Experience with the Cloudera distribution is preferred. • Experience with at least one of the following: o Cassandra o Couchbase o Storm o Spark o Solr • Some knowledge of general JVM tuning • Abiliy to create infrastructure capacity plans based on quantitative and qualtiative data points. • Basic understanding of networking. No need for network administration or deep networking skills. • Team player with strong inter-personal skills.
