Sweet! Even though I had fun at Ft. Travis in 2014, there's nothing like having
it at Seawolf.
Will we have an option to stay aboard the boat for the night?I attached some

We've met with the park and the UWC, and we're welcome to come back. We've
still a variety of details to work out, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, let us know level of involvement, hours available, equipment to
bring, etc. offline. The past need not be discussed on the email thread, the
past is past. We're out to have a fun event, to the mutual benefit of the park
and the UWC.

[BVARC] Newsgroup Etiquette - Again

2016-05-01 Thread Michael Wrenn via BVARC
FYI to everyone new to the news group world

When posting to a news group, it is proper etiquette to create a completely
new email. For this news group, that couldn't be easier as the email
address is bvarc@bvarc.org.

There is a very solid reason for doing this. That reason being the
archiving mechanism behind the newsgroup. The archiving process keeps all
emails on a topic together in a threaded fashion. It makes it easy to
peruse a topic later. The archives can be found here
https://www.mail-archive.com/

By taking a current topic and changing the subject line, you effectively
destroyed the flow of the topic. Changing the subject line does create a
new topic.

The mast is made from 5, 10’ long sections of fence top rail (Thanks Rick
Hiller for the suggestion). They’re joined with Fiber fix to keep the swaged
joints from blowing out. This makes 1, continuous 50’ mast. To stiffen it, it’s
wire-wrapped to a tree. This supports it most of the way up. At the very top of
the mast is a pulley where the rope is stuck. Further support is with a  “back
stay” line to go to another tree in the front yard.
The reason for the pipe is because there are no branches high enough to simply
use the slingshot and then give a chord across the roof and into the back yard.
If it was that easy, I would have done it! For 2 years, I ran with a tree in
the front yard that was 67’ tall until it
died.0449.jpg>0451.jpg>0452.jpg>0453.jpg>
I have a 30’ ladder to get up in the tree. A good climber should be able to get
a hook into the loop of the rope and pull it.
