That kind of smoke won’t do us any harm at all and the price is right.

I read with pleasure things coming from BVARC and I read up on the authors.
Positrons, teenie islands, places like Mauritania are apparently of interest to
BVARCians. I will try to stay away from Mauritania.

How might you approach estimating the number of actually active licensees?

 As of December 31,
2016, the total number of licensees in the FCC database was 742,787.  The
all-time high was of 743,003 reached  November 2016. Breakdown goes like this:
143,337 Amateur Extra licensees   45, 071 Advanced licensees
172,807 General licensees 371,560 Technician licensees   10,012 Novice
licensees.  US population is currently 325,508,188, so the 742,787 licensed US
Radio Amateurs comprise .228% of the US population.    BVARC, at 200 members,
makes up about .027 percent of the Ham Population.    ARRL members, 170,000,
are about 22.8 percent of the licensed hams.    Put that in your TTFD
terminating resistor and smoke it.  W5RH

Could this be any better than ATT U-Verse..?

ATT U-Verse in Deer Park and Pasadena is over subscribed and Internet speeds
drop to speed levels of DSL and below during the heat of day, only time I can
view YouTube videos on PC, is late night and early hours of morning..

Today, our ATT U-Verse failed 5 times for several minutes each occurrence
between 3:-- and 4:30 Monday, NO TV, NO INTERNET and NO PHONE during outages..

ATT has changed the Broadband Wi Fi box twice in past year due to problems,,,
Comcast X-Finity has same issue..

All,

I read this article a few hours ago. It describes AT's plans to
test/implement a gigabit internet system over power lines. Anyone heard of
this? I wonder if there are any HF/VHF/UHF noise implications.
