Re: [BVARC] Fixing a stripped aluminum screw hole

2022-05-31 Thread orin snook via BVARC
Depending on the amount of "stripping", you can make the "hole" smaller with
aluminum foil or small strips placed perpendicular to the threads in the hole.
LokTite for more security.

2. Use copper, strands of Brillo pad or similar wire, depending again on the
tolerance you are trying to close.

3. Wrap the screw threads with "oakum" - hemp fibers filling the male screw
threads themselves. Used as a method of pipe doping to get a seal with sloppy
threads. Old method, but makes serious pressure sealing. Cotton ball with
LokTite may be sufficient.

4. JB Weld?? Several adhesives/epoxy used on the boat should work.

Red or Blue LokTite depending if you want it apart anytime soon.

Here's a question everyone is likely to encounter at some time, and I am hoping
someone has an answer. There are tiny screws holding the back of my macbook
air. The pentalobe size is 1.2, and the screw shaft size appears to be around
0.75 mm. The screw appears to be stainless steel, and the case appears to be
aluminum. The screw appears to be fine, but the hole is stripped. Does anyone
have a solution for properly and permanently fixing the hole?

[BVARC] Museum Ships Weekend Event -Friday June 3rd to Saturday June 4th

2022-05-31 Thread mark janzer via BVARC
We're only operating Friday afternoon through Saturday early afternoon. The
Museum has other activities on Saturday overnight through Sunday morning that
preclude our use.BVARC is paying a flat fee to the museum, for the event. This
enables a staff member to be present while we're aboard.
Overnight berthing requires a fee of $25 per person (Museum policy). If you are
on board for overnight radio ops, the berthing fee will apply.
You do not need to pay a berthing fee to attend, as long as you're not staying
overnight.
We arrive Friday afternoon, set-up in the galley and the Stewart radio room.We
clean-up and vacate the galley area by 2pm on Saturday.
To participate - respond to this email with your plans to attend.I'll then be
able to add you to the list of participants for "free" entry into the park.
