John,
It was great meeting you in person and to meet your Wife. Wish we could have
had more time to talk. Hope we have another opportunity sometime.

[BVARC] Looking for a Voice Keyer. Kit preferred or off the shelf

2023-07-08 Thread Rick Hiller via BVARC
Can anyone point me to a voice keyer kit? Doesn't have to be a
complete kit , I can do the interfacing, etc. I used to see them but can't
find them anymore.

Thanks...Rick W5RH

[BVARC] Antenna modeling

2023-07-08 Thread john Parmalee via BVARC
Chris I will be willing to help you with EZnec  and MMA-Gal.  Both are
intimidating at first until a few handles are understood.  Both are front end
access to  the same processor written by Lawrence Livermore labs in the 50's
for the Navy.  We could go and hide in a zoom room and you would come out with
a better understanding of how and why an antenna works.

2023-07-08 Thread Walter Holmes via BVARC
Chris,

John has spent a lot of time with antenna modeling, and even did a
presentation at one of our previous NARS club meetings on that topic.

I know John is on the BVARC reflector as well, but I have copied him here if
you want to reach out to him directly.

I'm sure he could work with you in one of our Zoom breakout rooms for a
quick demo as needed.

All the best,

Walter/K5WH

Subject: [BVARC] Antenna Modeling Software Experience

Im curious if anyone has had any luck using antenna modeling software. I
have installed several trial versions (including a fully licensed academic
version) and some have no support while others require a PHD in electrical
and mechanical engineering to operate. I'm looking for software that I can
draw up horizontally polarized wire antennas and then manipulate its various
positions with bends, turns, etc at different points to see the change in
theoretical radiation pattern, and someone who has experience using.

If you have any experience with such software, I am very interested in
learning how to fish.

Thanks & 73

Chris/AC5CM
