Why doesn't someone write a Beacon article about Qsl cards. How that
landscape has changed……e-qsl Versus hard copy and where to get printed and on
demand self printed etc. lots of new hf users in the club would love to read
such an article.Even old farts like me would enjoy new info.

Submit it to our new editor Donovan. BDZ.

Subject: TRAFFIC NET ON 146.94 REPEATER

As discussed, I would like to run a weekly NTS traffic net on the

146.94 repeater. The planned net times are every Monday at 6:30pm-7:30pm and
this should not interfere with any other nets. The purpose of the net is to
pass NTS radiogram traffic into and out of the Houston area. This will provide
a valuable public service for local hams interested in traffic handling as well
as supporting ARES. The wide coverage of the 94 machine is ideal for this
purpose.

I will plan the first Traffic Net on the 94 repeater for Monday October 19 at
6:30pm and then continuing each Monday thereafter.

Thank you for all your support

[BVARC] SO2R Calssification

2020-06-14 Thread ron.litt--- via BVARC
According to ARRL Field Day Rule 4

4. Entry Categories: Field Day entries are classified according to the
maximum number of simultaneously transmitted signals".

>From the N1MM Manual - Single operator Contesting
https://n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/manual-operating/single-operator-contesting/

"Single Operator 2 Radio (aka SO2R) is an operating technique that when done
properly, can add many extra QSOs and multipliers to your log. This is
accomplished by increasing your efficiency during slow times, for example,
when you are CQing on one radio, but getting few answers. Efficiency is
increased by listening on a 2nd radio while you are transmitting on the 1st
radio. On the 2nd radio you are scanning the bands for needed QSOs and
multipliers. If you find a new station to work on the 2nd radio, you leave
it staged on the 2nd Entry Window until you get a free moment to work this
station. Even adding a few QSOs an hour will greatly boost your score."

In SO2R, you are only transmitting simultaneously on one radio. In the
second reference the highlighted passage is the key statement, "Listening on
a 2nd radio while you are transmitting on the first. Still only one
simultaneously transmitted signal. Hence the correct classification for
Nizar is either 1D or 1E

Still just one operator
