To be specific, Dave Smudde connected to a remote desktop session and went
through the radio configuration with me and made suggestions on items to
change. I performed the changes and his suggestions proved to be a positive
resolution.

As for the question on the hold off timer, that just allows the AP to operate
(without shutting of Tx) without a GPS signal during the holdoff timer.

Could this issue have caused intermittent disconnects for subsets of customers?
After upgrading to 3.5.1 we had a large segment of customers have problems with
dropping wireless association in sync with each other (e.g. they all dropped
and came back at the same time), and it was repeatably the same customers, on
three different towers across six sectors.

[Cambium-users] Field Service Bulletin for PMP 450

2017-06-12 Thread Matt Mangriotis via Cambium-users
Just wanted to let folks know we found an issue with some PMP 450 SM (and PTP
450) radios. There may be cases where the license key is not functioning as it
should.

I have attached the FSB, and also here is a link to the forum post:
http://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t5/PMP-Known-Issues/Field-Service-Bulletin-FSB-PMP-450-Incorrectly-Keyed/m-p/74037#M28

Good news is that it's easily fixed by applying the key again, and customer
support knows about the issue and is ready to help.

Sorry for any pain this causes.

Re: [Cambium-users] PMP 450i

2017-05-05 Thread Matt Mangriotis via Cambium-users
Christian - The 450i has only been around a couple of years... surprised to
hear you say it was working for 5 years on that channel.

In any case, it's really hard to tell what might be going on there. If it's
under warranty, I would suggest you open a support case. That will get you the
quickest action on something like this.

We don't have a spare 450i at this time otherwise I would just switch it to

Has anyone ever experienced a 450i just all the sudden stop working in the
5.8ghz band but working fine in the 5.4ghz band? We have an access point that
is all the sudden having trouble on channel 5840, it has been running there for
about 5 years. It seems to work find down in a 5.4ghz channel for the time
being, but I am looking for a possible source of interference.

I have run the analyzer on the access point as well as a good number of the
SM's and there isn't any out of the ordinary on that channel at all, I am about
to go out looking for something but I'm starting to wonder if this is somehow a
hardware issue.

When running the access point in 5840 the subscribers will just connect for a
second then drop off. We don't get a reading on the rates or signal, it seems
very odd, especially in comparison to dealing with interference in the past,
seems like some, especially the close ones, would atleast stay connected for a
short time.

Thanks,

So, back on the comment of why we (Cyber Broadcasting, LLC) weren't mentioned
in this article by name. Government was involved, which means they cannot show
bias and favoritism. You don't need to read any more into it than that. Cambium
sponsored with some free end-user gear. We're providing some free service and
we picked up a couple paying customers.
End of story.

I'll add that this area is beyond low income, the lowest in the state.
And hellacious tree density, so ePMP wasn't an option, but the 900 450i is
giving us >20Mbps aggregate to most of the locations and a few others on 3.6
450. We came up with a solution together with Cambium and everybody won.

Kudos to Cambium and Ray especially for organizing this.

Re: [Cambium-users] 450m CPE 5GHz

2016-12-15 Thread Matt Mangriotis via Cambium-users
Almost perfect (nothing is really perfect perfect)...

We have a new 450 SM coming in May.

It will be $299 MSRP.
- Gbps Ethernet Interface
- 50k PPS (same FPGA / SoC as the 450i)
- 4.9-5.9 GHz support
- Form factor like the Force 180 (16 dBi integrated panel)
- Power will be polarity Agnostic, BUT still operates on 30 VDC, so can
continue to use the Canopy power supplies. (i.e. NOT 802.3af compatible)

In August, we expect to release a Force 200-like form factor (25 dBi)
integrated dish version @ $349 MSRP, otherwise similar features as above.

I believe the new low-cost wideband 5GHz (and hopefully 3GHz later) SM will be
a SOC design like 450i. Plus a GigE interface. I don't remember if it will have
the RF filtering, but I believe so.

This would be the perfect device to make POE universal. 802.3at compliant as
well as 20-60VDC passive, and polarity agnostic like Force180/200. Please make
that happen, Cambium.
