[Cameramakers] Lens making and source for eyeglass blanks

2003-02-04 Thread Bruce Klemz

Ive read the VC article (thanks to John Yeo) regarding lens building as well as
the few sites I could find on the web. Ive also found several optical surplus
shops (http://www.aaaim.com/CandH/index.htm,
http://www.edsci.com/, http://www.surplusshack.com/, http://www.apogeeinc.com/sitemap.html,
etc) but their inventory is hit-and-miss. Does anyone know where I can purchase
eyeglass blanks? They should be cheap and run commonly run from +6 to -6 diopters.
These should serve as well as the close-up filters mentioned in the article. Thanks
in advance, Bruce.

Re: [Cameramakers] 16mm still camera

Thanks for the correction. It has been a long time since I saw one and I
just mixed up the names of the makers. Sorry. If my memory is correct on
one other point, I believe the Kiev 16 is very similar to the Minolta 16,
enough so that I could put a Kiev cassette into a Minolta with a slight
modification.

There were various cameras taking short lengths of 16 mm film,
from Minolta, but I believe also Pentax and Lomo.

Not LOMO but Kiev. Kiev 30 or Kiev-Vega models might be what you
had in mind. Those came from Arsenal factory in Kiev -- not any more.
LOMO factory is mostly known abroad for the LOMO-Compact Minox clone
associated with the lomography. It takes 35mm film (135).
