Re: [Cameramakers] cordura bellows

John,

Sorry to take so long to respond. We're in the process of moving.

I have absolutely no idea which Cordura fabric I got.As stated before
the retailer (in Phoenix, AZ) sells mill ends and remnants. Couldn't
tell a thing from the Cordura site. It looks and feels like backpack
material, very densely woven (light tight by itself) and a little stiff.

The bellows is a little stiff (in that it doesn't sag), I think on an
8x10 this is a good thing!
It collapses down to 1/2 thick and extends to 18 to duplicate the
original bellows. I have movements available at 90 mm.

Have to correct myself on the stiffener paper - it was Arches Bristol
Board - not watercolor paper as previously stated cut in 7/16 and 5/16
strips for the pleats. There is 1/8 spacing between the strips for the
pleats. Lining fabric is the lightest weight, most densely woven, flat
finish cotton fabric I could find at Wal Mart.

Hope this is some help,
Jahn

[Cameramakers] cordura bellows

2002-10-13 Thread jahn baker

John,

Yes! Just finished a bellows for an old Seneca 8x10. Picked up the
Cordura Nylon at a Mill Ends retailer. The fabric itself was almost
perfectly light tight before lining with cotton duck. Bellows functions
like a dream! Used Barge Cement to glue the watercolor paper stiffeners
in place as well as the lining.

Hi Jahn,
This is very good news... Do you remember what type of Cordura that you
used? Is your bellows very stiff? How does it collapse Below is a list
from the Cordura web site. I would imagine that some of the cordura is a
little to bulky for camera use... the CORDURA® Plus 160-68-T440 looks like
their lightest , but it is a blend . You can see all the descriptions on
their web site... Evidently you can get samples...
Thanks,
John Cremati.
