Re: [Care2002-developers] Domain names and future of care2x

2010-05-28 Thread Tim Schofield
Too much emphasis is placed on roles within open source projects. The
reality of open source is that the person who does the most work in
each part of the project is the real head of that role.

To be honest it came as a surprise to me that Elpidio was still
considered to be the project manager of care2x. In recent years the de
facto project manager of care2x has been Gjergj, with assistance from
Robert. It is great that Mauri is now putting energy and work into the
project, and that is why people are now regarding him as project
manager.

There is really no such thing as promotion or demotion within a
project, just those who do a lot of work, and those who do a little.

Thanks
Tim

 Hi Elpidio,

Kudos for the job well done up to the current version. I also want to
embark on enhancing the care 2002 version that I downloaded some years back.

Folks anyone with both users and developers manuals in pdf will be
 appreciated.

Re: [Care2002-developers] Domain names and future of care2x

2010-05-27 Thread Mauri Niemi
Hi Claudio,

I think one of the weaknesses of Care2x has been too many forking out and
customizing their own version. We need critical mass of developers to have a
competitive quality and people for support. Hope you would be among them
like I hope all others whom I have contacted in this list and privately.
Another is the focus. I believe Care2x has not so good market in richer
countries, where they have money to buy commercial software and support for
it. There are much less options in poor countries and more interest in this
software. It is also seen in all contacts in this list. They come from South
and Central America, Africa and some Asian countries. Most interested people
from Western countries drop out sooner or later. The progress of the project
is not fast enough for them.
I have shared with some developers a very common swahili word: pole-pole,
which means slowly. The good thing with that attitude is that we tolerate
more delays and problems. We need that attitude with the small resources we
have. We cannot make wonders quickly. But with persistance we get results.

Mauri

2010-04-25 Thread Jess Pepito
Hello All,

Thanks for all the information about care2x project status, im a php developer
from philippines and I really interested project im willing to work on the
development but unfortunately I just set aside the testing and development of
this project because of the reason that Im not earning on this project, and
that's the reason also for other developer who monitor this project, hopefully
there are big hospital or organization who can fund this project that would be
good... lots of developer will be able focus working on this project.
