Re: [casper] System Compatibility
Hi, Update It is possible to install Xilinx ISE 14.7 and MSSGE Toolflow set RHEL 7. The only doubt I have is on the USB cable drivers. Not sure if the drivers got installed successfully. Will have to test and see if they are working fine too. Hi Vishwa, To add to what Danny said, while there will never be a Vivado flow for ROACH1/ROACH2, I've been using a vivado-based flow for the SNAP board, which is a kintex-7 platform. Re: [casper] System Compatibility
Hi Vishwa As far as I’m aware, Vivado does not support Virtex 5 or 6, so can’t be used for ROACH1 or ROACH2 designs. The Xilinx + Matlab stack is hard enough to get working on officially sanctioned distribution, so using RHEL7 will probably just give you stability issues and installation woes. For a compilation machine, stability is *by far* more important than having a newer OS. That said, I’m guessing that RHEL7 would probably work fine, and that the install process would essentially be the same. Only one way to find out… Regards Danny > On Jul 1, 2015, at 11:17 AM, Vishwa Seneviratne wrote: > > > Hi, > > Has anyone tried installing Xilinx ISE 14.7 in RHEL 7? Hi, Has anyone tried installing Xilinx ISE 14.7 in RHEL 7? Is there a way to do so? Re: [casper] System Compatibility
hi victor, i urge people to only use operating systems supported by xilinx: i think right now, that means windows7 pro, redhat enterprise linux 5 or 6, or suse enterprise linux. several casperites have tried to use non-supported linux operating systems for casper work. sometimes this can work fine for particular appliciations, sometimes it doesn't work. xilinx will not provide any support or answer any questions if you use a non-supported operating system. and we've seen be subtle bugs without any reported error messages with a non-supported operating system. one time we found the casper FFT didn't work for sizes over 2^13 points - there was no error message - it just computed the FFT incorrectly on the FPGA - the simulation worked fine... when we switched to redhat, the problem went away... best wishes, dan On Tue, Jun 23, 2015 at 12:48 PM, Victor Cardoso < victorcardoso...@hotmail.com> wrote: > Greetings, > > I am working with the ROACH 2 in order to implement the MUSIC project. [casper] System Compatibility
Greetings, I am working with the ROACH 2 in order to implement the MUSIC project. I am having a lot of troubles to compile the Tutorial 1 (Introduction to Simulink) due to mismatch between Xilinx ISE 14.5 and my Operating System, Ubuntu 10.04. I would like to know if it's possible to run this example using Ubuntu. Otherwise, I can install Redhat Enterprise Linux 6.3, Matlab 12b and Xilinx 14.5 to run the codes. I look forward hearing from you. Best Regards, Victor Cardoso.
