[cayugabirds-l] Lecture-Saving the Great Philippine Eagle April 9

2014-03-24 Thread Laura Stenzler
Saving the Great Philippine Eagle
Presented by Dennis Salvador, Philippine Eagle Foundation

Date: Wednesday April 9th, 2014
Location: Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Auditorium
time: 12-1

The Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is one of the largest and most
powerful raptors. With only a few hundred individuals left in the wild, the
Philippine Eagle is also one of the most endangered species on the planet.
Isolated to just a few islands in the Philippines, the fate of this majestic
bird is under constant threat from escalating deforestation and hunting
pressure. Dennis Salvador is the Executive Director of the Philippine Eagle
Foundation and he will be discussing the status of the species, the threats it
faces, and the conservation efforts that are underway.

Hosted by: CLO Multimedia, public invited
