[cayugabirds-l] Eagles and Ospreys

2016-04-23 Thread Peter
For those who may not know: there are eaglets on the Aurora nest and the
nest at mud lock. The osprey cam viewable from the Refuge Visitor's
Center shows at least one egg in the osprey nest.
And both ospreys and eagles seemed to be everywhere today in the
northern part of our basin.in fact, a nest right on Rt. 90 at
Great Gully had an osprey peering down upon we observers. It is
heartening to see populations of both species on the mend.
Now, if those broadwinged hawks would only start cooperating a bit
more...

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Etna: House Wren

2016-04-23 Thread Kenneth V. Rosenberg
They arrived in the 'Northeast Ithaca' neighborhood yesterday and apparently on
West Hill on Thursday.

A surprise BROWN THRASHER was double scratching in the garden with the many
White-throated Sparrows yesterday, and PINE SISKINS at our feeders yesterday
and today.

[cayugabirds-l] Pine Siskins

2016-04-23 Thread Donna Lee Scott
After not having any for a few weeks, today I just saw at least 7 PINE SISKINS
at my feeders with all the A. GOLDFINCHES.
Also, am enjoying hearing and seeing WHITE THROATED SPARROWS one ground food
and in woods nearby.
Still seeing and hearing C. LOONS on Cayuga Lake.
