[cayugabirds-l] Chemung Valley Audubon Meets Thursday 9/15

2022-09-12 Thread Anita Seaberg
Chemung Valley Audubon Society Meeting and Program

September 15, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

Presentation by Randy Weidner

In-person: meet at Appleridge, 168 Miller St. Horseheads, NY.

By Zoom: email windingwayho...@aol.com to
request a Zoom invitation.

"Becoming a Naturalist"

Chemung Valley Audubon Society meets on September 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the West
End Room at Appleridge, 168 Miller St., Horseheads. All are welcome to attend
to learn about local birds, the society's projects, and how to become involved.
Appleridge is wheelchair accessible. Online viewing by Zoom is also available
with a request to windingwayho...@aol.com.

A 7:00 p.m. Bird Identification Workshop by Bill Ostrander is followed by a
brief business meeting at 7:30. A new season of autumn programs begins with
"Becoming a Naturalist" by physician and all-around naturalist Randy Weidner of
Bath, NY. Retired after 33 years in family practice, Randy continues to pursue
his lifelong curiosity for all things wild, including mushrooms, which he has
studied throughout North America for nearly 50 years.

Randy is known to many as the Unofficial Naturalist of the 167-acre Mossy Bank
Park in the Village of Bath. The park's woodland trails have inspired his
weekly column "What's Up at Mossy Bank Park" and more recently, "Appreciating
Endless Forms," which explore nature's nooks and crannies throughout the
seasons.

Chemung Valley Audubon events are free and open to all. One of 27 chapters in
New York State, its purpose is to encourage the study, enjoyment, and
protection of birds and other wildlife, and to promote educational lectures,
programs, and field trips. For online information visit
www.cvaudubon.org and the society's Facebook page.
