Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

     12/13: A late CHIPPING SPARROW was seen on East Road. A SHORT-EARED OWL 
was seen from Carncross Road.

     12/14: 41 SANDHILL CRANES were seen from East Road.

     12/17: A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Carncross Road.

     12/18: 3 SANDHILL CRANES were seen Armitage Road.

     12/19: 2 HERMIT THRUSHES were seen on Howland Island. An EASTERN TOWHEE 
was seen on McDonald Road just east of the complex.







Oswego County

     12/14: 1 EVENING GROSBEAK was seen at Rice Creek Field Station south of 
Oswego.

     12/18: A RUDDY DUCK and a RED-THROATED LOON were spotted at Oswego Harbor. 
An ICELAND GULL was at the Rt. 6 wetland north of Rt. 3. A WINTER WREN was 
spotted at the Rice Creek Field Station.







Onondaga county

------------




     12/13: A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen on Hoag Road south of Baldwinsville.

     12/17: 79 species of birds were recorded at the annual Syracuse Christmas 
Count. Highlights were RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, GRAY CATBIRD HERMIT THRUSH and 
BLACK VULTURE which was winner of best bird of the count. It was the first time 
a Black Vulture was ever recorded on this count.

     12/19: A late CHIPPING SPARROW was at a feeder in Manlius.







Madison County

------------




     12/13: A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen on ditchbank Road north of 
Canastota.

     12/14: An EASTERN PHOEBE was seen in Earlville. An ICELAND GULL was seen 
from Lewis Point at the east end of Oneida Lake. 10 EVENING GROSBEAKS and a 
COMMON REDPOLL were seen at a feeder on Carpenter Road east of Sheds.







Oneida County

------------




     12/16: 16 species of waterfowl including BLACK SCOTER and GREEN-WINGED 
TEAL were seen at South Bay at the east end of Oneida Lake. Also seen there 
were a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL and an ICELAND GULL.







Herkimer County

------------




     12/13: 12 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen on Spencer Road east of Dolgeville.

     12/16: 5 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Old forge.

     12/18: 8 EVENING GROSBEAKS and 8 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen in salisbury 
north of Dolgeville.
