[cayugabirds-l] Bonaparte's Gull at Myers Point this morning

2014-10-10 Thread JasonRHuck
Fairly quiet at Myers this morning (the usual suspects ), except for the lawn
mower running at 7 AM for the third day in a row. Of note, there is a
BONAPARTE'S GULL wandering the spit. Jason

[cayugabirds-l] Eurasian Widgeon - Lake Rd, Cayuga, NY

2014-03-23 Thread JasonRHuck
Just found a Eurasian Widgeon in with Redheads and American Widgeon while
scoping off Lake Road, at the start of the Cayuga trail, just south of the Town
park. Working the edge of the ice. I watched it for about five minutes before
it flew about 50 feet north up the lake edge. Photos.

[cayugabirds-l] Davis Rd. - Snow Buntings, Horned Larks, Lapland Longspur

2014-02-15 Thread JasonRHuck
Belltown Dairy (North end of Davis Road at the county line) is spreading fresh
manure this morning. Great numbers of SNOW BUNTINGS and HORNED LARKS feeding in
the field. Two LAPLAND LONGSPURS mixed in (continuing).

Not nearly as exciting as a Tufted Duck, but great views of the flock from the
road.

[cayugabirds-l] Whimbrel from Towpath Rd

2013-08-25 Thread JasonRHuck
Just met Tony and Chris (from) Syracuse on Towpath. They pointed out a WHIMBREL
wandering the KM mud flats, seen from far end of Towpath looking west. Just
wandered into the grasses along the flats... Jason Huck
