I want to add that we also saw a huge kettle of Turkey Vultures in the Stevenson Road direction. When we first looked, I saw about ten or so. As I left the group, I counted at least 50, so hard to count, as there were so many flying in a tight circle and relatively small diameter and a handful flying away from the vortex in all four directions. It could have been as many as 75.
Today, from Fall Creek, looking directly upward into the gorgeous blue sky with thin clouds, I was amazed at how many gulls I saw soaring up with the thermals, so high I almost could not see them. I estimate there were ten or more at the highest level (almost cloud level) and several others lower down. They just seemed to keep going higher and higher. -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
