While birding Irish Hill Rd near the NW gate of the Arnot Forest this morning, Rachel Lodder, Jared Dawson and I stopped for what we thought was a blue-winged warbler (Merlin agreed). Rachel spotted the bird's movements; I got a good view of it and was surprised to see a bright yellow crown and thick yellow wing patches! The dark eyeline, white throat and pale belly suggested a hybrid golden-winged/blue-winged warbler -- looks like Brewster's type. Rachel confirmed visually. The bird continued to sing a Bee-Buzzz song.
Very cool-looking bird!
