[cayugabirds-l] Avoiding add texts: New rare bird text alert
I found that after I downloaded and registered on the GroupMe App I stopped getting texts generated from people being added to the group. I did still get the rare bird alert Dave sent as text. Also, that message I sent out to RBA last week was an accident. I thought I was replying to a different text and hit reply on the RBA text in error. When hitting reply it didn't need any special word to send as I found out. I'm not sure if this new system is the same but make sure you aren't half asleep when you hit reply choice on a text! I too downloaded the app. which looks good, but I noticed the new messages come in as part of a continuing conversation so don't trigger the new text alert on my iPhone. I'm not sure what's up with that yet. Thanks Jay for riding herd on this, it should be a good system when we get used to it. If you using the iPhone and aren't getting RBA alert sounds or Banners try the following: Open Settings Go to Notification Center Turn (ON) Access on Lock Screen Then scroll down to the GroupMe app Set Alert Style to (Alerts) and Turn everything else (ON) in this window. Close out of the Settings app and open the GroupMe app. Log out of GroupMe and then log back in Everything should work fine.
