Stepped outside to head to Syr this morning and the sweet song of my Field Sparrow greeted me, FOS.
Observed on yesterday's drive along 5&20 just west of MNWR--Ospreys present on 5 of the 7 nest structures. Later I watched an Osprey dip into the entrance pool at the Refuge (startling several Mallards in the process) and grab a talonful of algae which it took to the nest (badly damaged over the winter) along the river. Along River Rd there were several DC Cormorants in the river, and at Mud Lock a Bald Eagle flew in with food and proceeded to feed the youngsters.
