[cayugabirds-l] Glossy Ibis, Montezuma
The previously (some time ago) reported GLOSSY IBIS is feeding in the second open area at Eaton Marsh (formerly Shorebird Flats) on the Wildlife Drive. The EARED GREBE is also still in the same area near the first open water on the left side of the drive. Ann Mitchell posted to the RBA at 1:36PM today that she and Dave Nutter had found a GLOSSY IBIS at Shorebird Flats on the Wildlife Drive at Montezuma NWR. Also, the WHITE-EYED VIREO at Sapsucker Woods in Lansing was still around at 1:00 this afternoon, foraging on the peninsula between the two ponds and moving back towards the Sherwood Platform where it has been most frequently reported. A bright singing Yellow Palm Warbler was also present. -- Jay McGowan Macaulay Library Cornell Lab of Ornithology jw...@cornell.edu -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --

Re: [cayugabirds-l] Glossy Ibis, Montezuma
I was at the Wildlife Drive yesterday, and there were almost no shorebirds. Way out there was a flock of shorebirds zooming about, but that was it. I went there for shorebirds so I was very disappointed . At the visitor there was a pair of Blue Winged Teals. On the drive there were 2 Willow Flycatchers, a Marsh Wren, Yellow Warblers, Song Sparrows, a Warbling Vireo, Red Wings, and an Eastern Kingbird. Near the parking lot, a Northern Oriole was harassing a crow. Of course there were Martins and Tree Swallows. Sorry, I forgot to put the date for this report. This was yesterday (22 July 2011) morning. I look forward to hearing others' reports from the area in coming days, if anyone braves the heat. -Jay On Sat, Jul 23, 2011 at 9:05 AM, Jay McGowan jw...@cornell.edu wrote: I just got the report from the volunteer counters at Montezuma NWR (Larue St. Clair and Jackie Bakker).
