This morning. along Leonard Rd., Susie located a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH perched high in a tree. It took me a while to see it. This is the first she has ever actually seen. It did not sing, but gave only a weak version of its typical call note. It's about a week late for this location. A little later, we heard one singing (did not see) in the
6-Mile Creek gorge in Brooktondale, just upstream from the high bridge. This is a typical location. Yesterday, along Bald Hill School Rd., SE of Brooktondale, I heard a BLACK & WHITE WARBLER. It sang for a long time, but I could not find it. This is a spot where the day before, Jane Graves mentioned that one of this species was about due. Prophetic. BLACK FLIES are BAD! S. & S.
