Sally’s usually not seeing NO. FLICKERS by the west shore of the lake is
interesting to me, since I have Flickers here on the east shore of Cayuga
Lake/Lansing all the time in the warmer months, as well as Pileated
Woodpeckers, which I see in winter, too.
I get to compare what Dave Nutter calls the “monotonous” call of the Flickers
with the “maniacal” call of the Pileated Woodpecker!

are working a dying cherry tree in our front yard. We rarely see NORTHERN
FLICKERS here along the edge of the lake, let alone 2 of them.
