A jaunt from East Hill along the rail trail to Monkey Run and back through the
Botanic Gardens produced a number of warblers and other birds this morning
including:

Chesnut sided, blue-winged, yellow, common yellowthroat, overbird, hooded
(calling on the north side of Fall Creek near the expiremental hemlock plot),
redstart; orioles are everywhere, red-eyed vireo, scarlet tanager,
rose-breasted grosbeak, wood thrush, kingfisher, green heron, GBH, amongst the
usual year round inhabitants. I did not hear any veery, which usually nest
around that stretch of Fall Creek.

Closer to home in Freeville, a lone adult female Evening Grosbeak was at our
feeder station yesterday afternoon and again this morning. A white crowned
sparrow was present yesterday as well.

Lastly, I picked up a dead blue-winged warbler and wood thrush outside the Vet
Research Tower this morning that I will bring by the lab.

Enjoy spring!
