We were very much surprised this AM to band a Yellow Palm Warbler (YPWA). For
this
location, YPWA is more of a late fall bird and rare in spring.
We also netted a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker that we banded several years ago.
It's a
male and in its seventh year!
Of note this spring, many Song Sparrows and chickadees are already displaying
developed (edematous) brood patches and cloacal protuberances; its very unusual
this
early in April and a reflection of our crazy weather.
We'll have some photos on the KHAMO list a bit later in the day; others by
request.
