*Job Description:*
The Data Warehouse Support Consultant’s role is to plan, coordinate, and
supervise all activities related to the support of data warehousing and
business intelligence applications. This is a hands-on management position.
The Support Manager will be responsible for participating in support
activities along with their team.
The key responsibilities of the Support Consultant’s role are the management
of a team responsible with supporting all aspects of the delivery of data
warehousing and business intelligence solutions. This includes ETL, Business
Intelligence and Data Warehousing. As part of the overall responsibility,
the Support Consultant consults with the offshore counterparts on capacity,
resource management, issue tracking, and risk management.
Responsibility Areas
Strategy Planning:
• Look for ways to improve the current system and stability of the
solution along with approaches to make the team more efficient.
Operational Management:
• Drive down system maintenance needs by identifying trends, improvement
areas, and sponsoring initiatives to automate and eliminate maintenance
needs.
• Responsible for managing risks (e.g. technical, performance, and
schedule).
Analyze issues and identify trends in order to take corrective actions and
manage team to appropriate run-rate.
Ensure team is following all stated Processes and drive culture of
continuous improvement to increase process effectiveness.
• Team Development
Associate development responsibilities include staff development as well as
forecasting skills needs (and related training or development or acquisition
of those skills).
• Ensure High Potential associates get stretch development
opportunities and cross-training.
• Leverages the talent/resources on the team to generate results.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, ideally in computer systems design or computer science
8+ years equivalent work experience
*Knowledge Experience:*
• 8+ years experience in IT software support and delivery
• Working experience leading a support team to deliver 24x7 support.
Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and
implementation of software solutions.
• Hands-on experience with automated software and system management
tools.
• Advanced knowledge of Software Development Best Practices and SDLC.
• Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to
project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, etc.
• Ability to quickly develop an excellent understanding of the
organization’s goals and objectives.
• Off-shore savvy and understanding of the issues and assumptions that
come with running development and operational programs in multiple
countries.
• Strong leadership and motivational skills.
• Strong work ethic and tenacity.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills; articulate and
persuasive. Experience managing global/offshore teams
*Technical Skills:*
- Ability to communicate with end-users and demonstrate knowledge of data
warehouse end-to-end processes, including business requirement logical
modeling, physical database design, Abinitio / ETL, database design, PL/SQL,
SQL and performance tuning.
- Excellent data analysis and communication skills and be equally effective
interacting with both business and IT professionals
- Experience with database design (logical, physical, conceptual) for data
warehousing environments using Oracle relational databases
- Ability to design, develop and test data warehouse database architecture.
- Experience with data warehouse Abinitio/ETL solutions.
- Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) and PL/SQL programming
experience.
- Knowledge of Abinitio tool preferred.
- Knowledge of Narrow cast server and BI Reporting tools preferred.
- Knowledge in UNIX, C, PERL and shell scripting.
- Knowledge in batches jobs written in PERL/Shell Script / CoBOL on Unix.
