[OSL | CCIE_Voice] IP Blue with CME

2009-06-10 Thread Russ Meuchel
Has anyone ever registered IP Blue LITE with CME? My phone successfully
registers, but no lines show up even though I have them programmed. In the
list of phone systems, it lists CallManager, but not CME. Is it made to
only work with full CM? Thanks.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE Voice v3 Home Lab

2009-06-10 Thread Russ Meuchel
I did a bit of research today and it turns out that purchasing the UC520 is
actually cheaper than buying a 1861 and building it out- and you obviously
get no CUE, FXS, FX0 with the 1861 out of the box (or voice bundle).
Granted, we're not doing fxs, fx0 on the CCIE Lab anymore, but it couldn't
hurt to have this for simulating customer networks etc.

MAIN SITE:
1760-V router off Ebay for $100 - $200
WS-C3560-8PC-S - Catalyst 3560 Compact 8 10/100 PoE + 1 T/SFP; IP Base Image
- $419
VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 - $600

SRST SITE & CME SITE each get the following:
UC520-8U-4FXO-K9 - 8-user configuration with 4 PSTN trunks (FXO), 4 analog
ports (FXS), 8 PoE ports, 1 VIC slot for expansion, Feature licenses for
call control, voicemail and Cisco Unified IP Phones - $1133
VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 - $600

 3 CP-7961G= - Cisco IP Phone 7961, spare - $134 x 3 = $402
Plus I'll have IP Blue / IP Communicator in addition to the real phones.

I'm still working on the VMWare piece for all of the servers.

All the prices listed above are 70% off NFR prices (except for the 1760 on
EBAY). Thus, the total cost would be just under $5000. Plus I need to
build the VMWare server...

Do you see anything that I'm missing or any ways I could save cost?
Here a few things I'm still considering:

Perhaps another 1760 in place of the 2nd UC520?
Cut out one of the VWIC2 cards and just connect that router to the main
site via Ethernet.
Cut out the 3rd site completely since I could still practice gatekeeper,
CUBE, TI, E1, SRST, CME with just 2 UC520's.

If I did these options, I would save a significant amount but the lab would
only be good for practicing technologies, not doing a full lab.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Russ

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Integrating Cisco CallManager and Cisco SRST to Use Cisco SRST As a Multicast MOH Resource

2009-06-10 Thread Michael Ciarfello
Hi and welcome.

Did you upload the MOH file to all the other servers in the cluster?
Multicast routing enabled on the remote gateway?
You have 239.1.1.1 which implies FIRST music source, G.711. Are you using
G.711 over the WAN?
What does show ccm-manager music-on-hold output when the phone is on hold?
What does show ip mroute display when on hold?

There is a Cisco made document describing this feature. Probably search for
Moh from router flash on the Cisco web site.

The remote phone config file should have in it 239.1.1.1 for Moh. You can get
the phone.xml file from the TFTP directory if the appropriate TFTP service
parameters are set or since you are a production system I wouldn't mess with
them and would sniff the phone bootup packets to read that file from the
sniffer. The phone might be listening to another IP Address for some reason.

Multicast MOH from remote site flash is like the phone turning a radio channel.
If it doesn't tune to the proper channel (defined in the config file
downloaded to the phone) you don't hear the radio program.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Integrating Cisco CallManager and Cisco SRST to Use
Cisco SRST As a Multicast MOH Resource

Hello Experts,

This is not related to a lab or a pod, sometimes i use my customer's networks
to study

I have centralized deployment, the cluster has 2 servers running CCM 7.x, the
MOH Servers are enabled for multicast, the ip address and port are configured,
the multicast increment is set to "Ip address"
On the selected audio source field on the option 1 (which is the MOH file that
we want to use) the hop count is set to 1
The MOH audio source has the box check for Allow multicasting.
I created an MRG that include both serves and is enabled for Multicast, the
MRGL has the Moh MRG. the MRGL is assigned to the phones and the remote
gateway. the phones have the user/network audio source selected to option 1
the remote gateway has the wav file loaded in flash.
the call-manager-fallback has the
ccm-manager music-on-hold
moh
multicast moh 239.1.1.1 port 16384 route

If I put a call on hold on the remote branch, the phone is not playing the
music from the local gateway. i get beeps
either internal or external calls. what am i missing?

If i place a call internally i get the beeps, however in RTMT i can see that a
multicast request becomes active

If i issue a show ccm-manager music-on-hold i don't see anything

your help is greatly appreciated

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Its bad luck, but I was very very close to the lab

2009-06-10 Thread Michael Ciarfello
Oh boy, you should't leave that door open. My thoughts in -->.

Hi,

It was a really amazing experience of CCIE we have to leave our family, friends
and every our loved one.

--> Whah whah. Don't break your violin. We are not joining the military and
shipping out to Iraq. And WHO is this loved one? This guy got something going
on on the side?

It would be really really very difficult if we do not have the real stuff to
pass the lab and this is really really fact.

--> Sets the tone of NDA violation there. The guy must have been a literary
genious. Foreshadowing.

If there are 10 labs when we reach practising 10th lab we start forgetting the
starting labs.

--> Sounds like he needs a memory upgrade. After practicing, say MGCP in the
REAL world on 100's of gateways, it just seems to stick. SO that shouldn't be
an issue. You SHOULD have x years of real-world experience to go along with
this certification. I don't do IPMA every day, so there are some topics that
have to be practiced and memorized. MOST others should be mostly daily-use
tasks. I think the CCIE is there to VALIDATE your expertise you have been
practicing. You wouldn't want a doctor doing surgery on you right after
medical school without internships, they have to go through. That's why they
call these "professional" studies PRACTICES such as doctor's practice.

What i understand is we really need a practise practise / understanding to
clearing the lab.

--> Real world expereince THEN since the lab is the way it is, practice labs
from reputable companies like IPExpert. This is like studying in school for 11
years then taking the SATs (It's a US college entrance type test to assist
colleges in deciding to accept a candidate.) Some people can do well on the
SAT (not me, lol). MOST people do better when they pay (have their parents
pay) for SAT prep classes such as Princeton Review, etc. But PR is not
stealing the test. Ok, maybe that example was not so good becasue it's allowed
to publish previous years tests, etc.

I have completed my lab in 4:30 just due to ccievoicelabs if they would have
not released those 2 new labs it would realy difficuly me to even get so close
to the lab.

--> And the idiot still didn't pass. Did he take a nap the rest of the time?
Or stand up and say "I'm done. You can grade now. I'll be at the bar."

I have done some mistake which has taken my lab

--> Like trying to cheat it in the first place. That's why I hope Cisco does
the open ended questions like they are doing for the R&S. My "dream" would be
a three-step process. Written. Recommendation from a Cisco entiry (SE, AM,
channel partner rep, etc) then LAB. The second qualifies candidates from
people that know them.

I was practising since last 1 year

--> Doesn't say anything about his experience which is probably none.

I have practise ipexpert labs, NLI labs , cciecert , ccievoicelabs

I have got the mgcp lab & my friend got H323 lab in sydney.

--> Who cares. I got the H324 lab. H323, H324 whatever it takes. (extra
points for pointing out that reference I twisted around.)

Best of luck to who all are attempting the and thanks for the support from
everyone, Now we will see on ver 3

--> Yea, here's a big NY support welcome for you.

I have all the updated labs with all the updates PM me if anyone want it :)

--> Replace the word Private with another word that begins with P.

Thanks for your response Larry. When I call from CME SIP to any phone in
HQ via gatekeeper it rings on HQ phone but when I lift the handset or
press answer soft key it stops ringing on HQ phone (but "answer" key is
still displayed on the HQ phone) and at the same time it is ringing on
calling phone (CME SIP) with "ring out" on the display for 3 rings and
then it eventually disconnects. There is no VM setup involve and it
works fine without gatekeeper.

I have testing above in my own lab, however, I ran into exactly same
problem when I had a proctor lab session last Saturday. So calling from
CME SIP (XLite) to HQ SIP (CIPC) same problem. What is even more
interesting is when I loaded final config of lab 4A in which everything
meant to be working I still had a same problem! and yes I did "revert
entire pod" before loading final lab 4A

Many Thanks

Can you try a few things to see if they help- let me know if you have
already done this.

(1) Enable Inbound Fast Start on your H323 trunk and see if that helps
(on UCM).

If that makes no difference:

(2) Change the codec to g711u between the SIP CME phone and UCM. Both
the outbound dial-peer and DP on the trunk should use g711u. Also in
your voice register pool you should have g711u configured- confirm this
by "show voice register dial-peer".

If that makes no difference:

(3) Add a dspfarm xcoder on the HQ-RTR and place this into an MRG > MRGL
and assign to the DP of the trunk. Then check MTP Required.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Well, we are thinking and using our experience to try things. The CCIE is also
a journey. I didn't pass back in Feb, but I came out a lot sharper on the
skills and basic building blocks. Even these no solution scenarios are
valuable because you never know what a customer will ask for and sometimes the
answer is NO.

Wouldn't that be something to put no win scenarios on the lab and you have to
explain why it doesn't work?

I'll shut up now before someone thinks it's a good idea. lol.

Actually, you might be able to do it if it is on CME.

Assign button 2 as an overlay, and put the mailbox number DN on the overlay
ephone-dn. It should be hard forwarded so it will never ring, but I bet that
would make the envelope appear the way being discussed.

Hi,

I am running through Lab 1A and setup CUCME using the telephony-service

It looked like my BR2 SCCP phone registered and then un-registered
immediately afterwards.

Jun 10 13:45:52.376: %IPPHONE-6-REG_ALARM: 16: Name=SEP001BD4C6C136

Now when I run the setup command again after clearing the config I dont see
this registration happen again.

BR2-RTR#sh ephone reg

No ephone in specified type/condition.

The phone is picking up an IP from my DHCP scope which has been defined as:

ip dhcp pool BR2
   network 10.10.202.0 255.255.255.0
   option 150 ip 10.10.110.3

What is the best way to debug this to find out whats going on.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] V3: Lab4A Gatekeeper scenario

2009-06-10 Thread Vik Malhi
Can you try a few things to see if they help- let me know if you have
already done this.

(1) Enable Inbound Fast Start on your H323 trunk and see if that helps (on
UCM).

If that makes no difference:

(2) Change the codec to g711u between the SIP CME phone and UCM. Both the
outbound dial-peer and DP on the trunk should use g711u. Also in your voice
register pool you should have g711u configured- confirm this by ³show voice
register dial-peer².

If that makes no difference:

(3) Add a dspfarm xcoder on the HQ-RTR and place this into an MRG > MRGL
and assign to the DP of the trunk. Then check MTP Required.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Many Thanks

Aamir:

So, from the description, when calling from the SIP phone, the call goes
through and you answer the call but the SIP device does not show as
connected? Does it keep ringing of does it eventually go to VM?

I'm just wondering where the problem is - on the calling or called end.
Sounds like that some supervisory signaling is not being passed
properly.

Are you doing this lab on a Proctor labs rack? Does this setup work
without the gatekeeper?

The file MUST be in the correct format. Not any wav file will do!

If you have a wav file you want to use, run it through the MOH translator in
CCM 4.x, or use the Microsoft Sound Recorder and do a save as to get it into
the correct format (CCITT U-law, 8khz x 8 bit mono).

  ephone moh

Hi Cristobal,

Just a starting point in your debug:

- enable multicasting only on a server not both; if you will have
both you must configure different starting IP addresses on each server and this
will not work in Moh from flash scenario;

- 239.1.1.1 is for audio source 1, codec g711u; make sure you are
using this one for MoH. If you have g729 between regions you should have there
239.1.1.3 and G729 enabled for MoH in service parameters;

- also you can use „debug ephone moh” for debugging on router.

- Also in SRST condition, ip phones will receive only beeps. PSTN
phones will receive music.

Hope this helps,

Cristian

Hello Experts,

This is not related to a lab or a pod, sometimes i use my customer's
networks to study

I have centralized deployment, the cluster has 2 servers running CCM 7.x,
the MOH Servers are enabled for multicast, the ip address and port are
configured, the multicast increment is set to "Ip address"
On the selected audio source field on the option 1 (which is the MOH file
that we want to use) the hop count is set to 1
The MOH audio source has the box check for Allow multicasting.

If i place a call internally i get the beeps, however in RTMT i can see
that a multicast request becomes active

If i issue a show ccm-manager music-on-hold i don't see anything

your help is greatly appreciated

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Integrating Cisco CallManager and Cisco SRST to Use Cisco SRST As a Multicast MOH Resource

2009-06-10 Thread Cristi Radescu
Hi Cristobal,

Just a starting point in your debug:
- enable multicasting only on a server not both; if you will have both
you must configure different starting IP addresses on each server and this will
not work in Moh from flash scenario;
- 239.1.1.1 is for audio source 1, codec g711u; make sure you are
using this one for MoH. If you have g729 between regions you should have there
239.1.1.3 and G729 enabled for MoH in service parameters;
- also you can use "debug ephone moh" for debugging on router.
- Also in SRST condition, ip phones will receive only beeps. PSTN
phones will receive music.

Hope this helps,
Cristian

Hello Experts,

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] XML PARSE ERROR

2009-06-10 Thread Jeff Cotter
I am receiving the following error when trying to access the IP Phone
Messenger Service. (" XML PARSE ERROR") from 7960 SIP phone. I believe it
may have to do with soft keys. I see a similar bug on Cisco for accessing
Corporate Directory but this should have been fixed in updated firmware.

Phone is running Sip Firmware 8-12-0. I have also tried 8-9-0 and 8-8-0
with the same results. Call Manager and CUP are both on 7.0. Works fine
with SCCP phones.Thank you.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] V3 questions... again...

2009-06-10 Thread Michael Ciarfello
CUPS - the CCM 7 SRND and/or the CUP deployment guide has the number of
servers. There are multiple servers for redundancy or more capacity.

UCCX is 1 or 2.

LDAP is not difficult so I would say practice it.

SIP Trunk provider. Why not?

I would jump off a bridge if LCS / OCS integration was on the test. And that
implies you are playing with the other team.

Yea, CUPS and these other applications are much easier and consistent with an
external LDAP but not REQUIRED.

OK, I know this is getting tedious, but there is very little info out

Are any of the following possible or likely:

Dual or quad CUPS servers.
Dual or quad UCCX servers.
External LDAP
External LCS/OCS
SIP trunk provider for PSTN access from a site

I need to remove things that are unlikely/improbable...

After going thru CUPS, there had BETTER be an LDAP on the network.

Don't think your issue is with the code. It's likely with the format of the
credentials. Often when dealing with LDAP, you have to put the credentials in
the form of an AD specification. Something like:

DN=Administrator,CN=Users,CN=Domain,CN=com

I've probably got the attributes confused (I always have to go to my notes
which aren't currently available to me) to see which ones are CN and which are
DN), but you get the idea. You must do it this way if you're binding LDAP in
CCM 6 or 7.

Actually, you might be able to do it if it is on CME.

Assign button 2 as an overlay, and put the mailbox number DN on the overlay
ephone-dn. It should be hard forwarded so it will never ring, but I bet that
would make the envelope appear the way being discussed.

I think this is not possible. With „secondary number” or „overlay” it will

Hi Aamir,

We would love to release them lab-by-lab, and in most cases moving forward that
is what we will continue doing, just as we have done in the past.
However for this latest round of labs, we found some efficiencies in doing many
of the labs somewhat bulked together.
So, to that end, that is how you will see these next few Volume 1 Labs
released, in bulk lab sections.
To be clear, in the next two weeks, you will be seeing multiple labs released
each time an announcement is made, which should be multiple times per week.

Also to answer Jonathan's question (or statement meant to be a question I
assume :):

"I have a lab date of July 27th, so, to confirm, there will be a
complete set of labs (testing all components of the blueprint) by 30
JUNE."

I will say, Yes Jonathan, well before July 27 you will have not only the rest
of the Volume 1 labs, but at least 2 full Mock Labs with Solutions in your
account!
(If you are a paid member - J/K - I know you are :P )

Watch the blog today for some cool announcements.
I will also post them here in the same way an MGCP GW who is backhauling Q931
back to UCM, allows local router debugs such as 'debug isdn q931'.
That was a very lame attempt at humor to say that I will also "echo" them here
to the local terminal - or mailing list.

Oh well - no more jokes for me - that was my time, tip your waitresses on your
way out, and drive safe.

It is my interpretation that:

1. He was referring to materials that are dumps as well as legitimate
materials.

2. He was offering to share copyright materials.

Any other interpretation? Please read his comments again.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM 7.1.2 7960 SIP Registration Rejected

2009-06-10 Thread Jason Granat
This actually wound up being a bone-headed mistake on my part. I intentionally
had upgraded the pub but not the sub. I thought I configured DHCP on the pub
and had option 150 pointing at the pub. Turns out I forgot I had DHCP running
on the router that the SIP phone was connected to and was still pointing to the
sub. That's why the SIP phone was getting rejected. After I fixed option 150 to
point to the pub the 7960 successfully registered as a SIP phone to the pub
running 7.1.2.

I have since rolled back to 7.0, since that is what is on the blueprint, so I
didn't spend a lot of time playing with 7.1.2. The only major thing I saw in
the short time it was up was that the server pauses during every reboot and
makes you accept a disclaimer at the console that it is running on VMWare. Of
course I would imagine this isn't an issue on real hardware.

The only other minor thing I noticed was the addition of geo locations.

Seen anything weird with 7.1?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] v3 Lab 1A BR2 CUCME phone registration

2009-06-10 Thread Jo Knight
Hi,

I am running through Lab 1A and setup CUCME using the telephony-service
setup wizard.

It looked like my BR2 SCCP phone registered and then un-registered
immediately afterwards.

Jun 10 13:45:52.376: %IPPHONE-6-REG_ALARM: 16: Name=SEP001BD4C6C136
Load=8.0(5.0) Last=CM-NAKed
Jun 10 13:45:52.376: %IPPHONE-6-REGISTER_NEW: ephone-1:SEP001BD4C6C136
IP:10.10.202.51 Socket:1 DeviceType:Phone has registered.
Jun 10 13:45:53.008: %IPPHONE-6-UNREGISTER_NORMAL: ephone-1:SEP001BD4C6C136
IP:10.10.202.51 Socket:1 DeviceType:Phone has unregistered normally.

Now when I run the setup command again after clearing the config I dont see
this registration happen again.

BR2-RTR#sh ephone reg

No ephone in specified type/condition.

The phone is picking up an IP from my DHCP scope which has been defined as:

ip dhcp pool BR2
   network 10.10.202.0 255.255.255.0
   option 150 ip 10.10.110.3
   default-router 10.10.202.1

BR2-RTR#sh ip dhcp bind
Bindings from all pools not associated with VRF:
IP address Client-ID/ Lease expirationType
Hardware address/
User name
10.10.202.510100.1bd4.c6c1.36 Jun 11 2009 04:32 PM
Automatic

What is the best way to debug this to find out whats going on.

Thanks,
Jo

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] v3: Module 6

2009-06-10 Thread Mark Snow

Hi Aamir,

We would love to release them lab-by-lab, and in most cases moving
forward that is what we will continue doing, just as we have done in
the past.
However for this latest round of labs, we found some efficiencies in
doing many of the labs somewhat bulked together.
So, to that end, that is how you will see these next few Volume 1 Labs
released, in bulk lab sections.
To be clear, in the next two weeks, you will be seeing multiple labs
released each time an announcement is made, which should be multiple
times per week.

Also to answer Jonathan's question (or statement meant to be a
question I assume :):

"I have a lab date of July 27th, so, to confirm, there will be a
complete set of labs (testing all components of the blueprint) by 30
JUNE."

I will say, Yes Jonathan, well before July 27 you will have not only
the rest of the Volume 1 labs, but at least 2 full Mock Labs with
Solutions in your account!

(If you are a paid member - J/K - I know you are :P )

Watch the blog today for some cool announcements.
I will also post them here in the same way an MGCP GW who is
backhauling Q931 back to UCM, allows local router debugs such as
'debug isdn q931'.
That was a very lame attempt at humor to say that I will also "echo"
them here to the local terminal - or mailing list.

Oh well - no more jokes for me - that was my time, tip your waitresses
on your way out, and drive safe.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Its bad luck, but i was very very close to the lab

2009-06-10 Thread Larry Hadrava
Sir:
So you think that the only way to pass the lab is to have a copy of the
"actual" test that you will get ahead of time?

Following that line of thinking the only to make the right decisions on a
real world design would to have it already designed by someone else and then
you present it as your own?

I guess this might be true for some. But for those that are actually taking
the time to LEARN the technologies, practice the technologies and learn and
practice over and over until they know and UNDERSTAND each and every click
of the mouse and every command that is entered via the CLI.

That is what becoming a CCIE takes. This what the workplace demands - that a
CCIE can act as a subject matter expert in the given area of expertise.

I wish you the best of luck with you studies and hope that you will take the
time to actually learn the technologies and be able to perform at the level
of the CCIE that you earn.

Thanks

it?

Thanks!

Yes on second buttons on phones we will have 3005 along with 3101 and 3102. So
when someone calls 3101 or 3102 the second buttons of the phones will ring.
Would this make sense. Also for Envelope, 3005 is the primary line and not
secondary line. If there is any requirement of label on the second line then
that can be configured on 3005 as the required label. Is there a requirement
that the envelope needs to be on 3101 and 3102 when a VM is left on them
directly?

Thanks,
Wilfred

No. First thing with your config, on
second buttons on phones you will have number „3005”.

Also envelope don’t work with secondary
numbers.

Try it. You will see.

Wilfred, you can not configure 2 extensions

I tested many scenarios that came in my

If you cofigure overlay as Cliff suggested,

Actually, you might be able to do it if it is on CME.

Assign button 2 as an overlay, and put the mailbox number DN on the overlay
ephone-dn. It should be hard forwarded so it will never ring, but I bet that
would make the envelope appear the way being discussed.

Hi,

I want to know if it's possible to have the voicemail letter on the second line
of 2 phones without changing the phone facing.

Example:

Phone 1
Line1 : 3001
Line2 : 3101

Phone 2
Line1 : 3002
Line2 : 3102

Each line need to be access to GDM mailbox, and when a message is left on GDM I
need to have VM Letter on both Line2 Phone.
Can't have line 3
Can't modify the look of the phone

It's possible? If yes, how ?

Thanks for your response Larry. When I call from CME SIP to any phone in
HQ via gatekeeper it rings on HQ phone but when I lift the handset or
press answer soft key it stops ringing on HQ phone (but "answer" key is
still displayed on the HQ phone) and at the same time it is ringing on

then it eventually disconnects.

So, from the description, when calling from the SIP phone, the call goes

I'm just wondering where the problem is - on the calling or called end.
Sounds like that some supervisory signaling is not being passed
properly.

Are you doing this lab on a Proctor labs rack? Does this setup work

following problem. When I call from CME SIP phone (7961) to SCCP or SIP
phone (7961) at HQ it rings on HQ phone but when I answer the call it

My config is similar to proctor guide solution. Has anyone else ran

Thanks

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Its bad luck, but i was very very close to the lab

2009-06-10 Thread vishal batra
Hi,

It was a really amazing experience of CCIE we have to leave our family,
friends and every our loved one.

It would be really really very difficult if we do not have the real stuff to
pass the lab and this is really really fact.

If there are 10 labs when we reach practising 10th lab we start forgetting
the starting labs.

What i understand is we really need a practise practise / understanding
to clearing the lab.

I have completed my lab in 4:30 just due to ccievoicelabs if they would have
not released those 2 new labs it would realy difficuly me to even get so
close to the lab.

I have done some mistake which has taken my lab

I was practising since last 1 year

I have practise ipexpert labs, NLI labs , cciecert , ccievoicelabs

I have got the mgcp lab & my friend got H323 lab in sydney.

Best of luck to who all are attempting the and thanks for the support from
everyone, Now we will see on ver 3

I have all the updated labs with all the updates PM me if anyone want it :)

Regards
Vishal
