Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM DB Replication Issues

2010-05-16 Thread CCIETalk.com
You shouldn't have to reboot.
Turn services off on the broken server
Remove from the group
Run repair all
Turn on the services
Add it to the group

Is this the order you tried?

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] CUCM DB Replication Issues

2010-05-16 Thread Matthew Berry

Can someone explain this to me?

Below is my output from "show dbreplcation status" after I issued a
"utils dbreplication repair all" and reboot the Pub then Sub.

I always though a status of 3 meant replication was broken, but the
explanation below says that no errors or mismatches were found.

This seems off to me.

Please use "file view activelog

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Dial Plan Testing Strategy ?

2010-05-16 Thread Mike Brooks
What is everyones thoughts on testing dialplan ?

If you have multiple paths for calls such backup gateways, or teho with
backups etc, would it make sense to get through dialplan and then just test
at the end. Or test as you go, both the primary and backup path after
implementing each route pattern ? Testing as you go would involve shutting
down the voice-port on the gateways after each pattern is implemented and
verifying it works before moving on to the next bullet/task.

Just curious what you all feel is the best approach.

Thx,
Mike

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Vol1 Lab 4A - X-Lite Issues

2010-05-16 Thread Steve Denney (stdenney)
Hi Brian,

I had run out of time on that lab, but some replies I got afterwards suggested
that the most likely culprit was a codec mismatch. Check the codec settings
between the regions, and the codec that the X-Lite client is set to use, and
set up a transcoder if need be.

Also ensure that any SIP dial peers are using a hard-coded codec and not "voice
class codec" to set a codec preference - although it looks fine and won't give
you an error message, the dial peer apparently won't actually use the voice
class codec settings, so you may have a mismatch that isn't obvious.

cheers, sd

My previous post was way too complex. Lets just focus on this. How do I
invoke the call handler transfer rules? What I want to do is dial an
extension, say 2401, that belongs to a call handler in CUC. Then have that
call handler's transfer rules invoked to forward the call, say to a PSTN
number, 911 for an example.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] 3 digit and 4 digit same cluster different site route plan

2010-05-16 Thread Alan Gardner
Hi all,

I have two sites off of the same cluster, using 1 + {three digit Site Code}.

Put the two different sites in different Partitions because one site uses 3
digit extensions and the other uses 4 digit extension with overlapping numbers.

Is there a way to put a translation to strip off the site code and then search
only a specific set of partitions.

The link below talk about added the site code to every extension and then using
a translation pattern to strip it off, but I think that there has to be an
easier way.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Physical Components for CCIE Voice Lab

2010-05-16 Thread Graham Hopkins
Well there are so many options, you can work with the online rack rentals from
Proctorlabs which are designed to work with the IP Expert workbooks. I don't
use them myself, but other here can tell you how they got on with them, or you
can build your own lab as you suggest.

If building your own lab then I'd take a look at the areas from the lab
blueprint that you think you need to focus on and get some kit to help you do
that. 2800 series routers are fine and less expensive than the 2900 series,
You'll need more than one if you want to practice things such as WAN QoS and
CAC mechanisms, simulating E1/T1 circuits with crossover cables, call routing
with SRST and CUCME etc. You'll need some DSPs installed for transcoding and
other hardware media resources.

For some areas dynamips is a handy tool, hang some phones off USB-to-Ethernet
Interfaces and you can easily build a multi-router network to test all the
various gateways, gatekeepers, directory gatekeepers, CUBE, B-ACD, Frame Relay
QoS etc. sure there are some limitations to consider - such as no DSP resources
for transcoding, but you can do a lot and its easy to clone scenarios and wipe
and reboot the routers (much faster than the real thing).

7942 phones are fine but the 7961/61/65 phones give you more buttons which
allow you to do more on a single phone.

Regards

Graham Hopkins

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Invoking CUC Call Handler Transfer Rules

2010-05-16 Thread Matthew Hall
I used to know ho to invoke these, rather than having the call go to greeting.
They are normally invoked when you transfer from the AA I thought.

I created a call handler with an extension 2401.

I set the alternate transfer rule to enabled, set it to no greeting and to
forward to an extension (2001) with a direct release to switch.

When I enter the AA I dial 2401, and it tells me to wait while it transfers,
and proceeds to give me the greeting and go into the mail box of 2401.

My goal is to do this:

Dial 2401, have 2401 transfer directly to 2001.

So essentially I need to first find out why the AA isn't getting to the
transfer rule, then find out how to invoke the transfer rule without the aa.

Thanks
