[OSL | CCIE_Voice] uccx with cme

2010-08-17 Thread Brian Valentine
All,

I'm curious if anyone knows if a UCCX to CME integration is a testable
topic in the current blueprint. Do any of the Vol2 labs cover this? I
went through them all once, and many of them twice. I don't recall a
UCCX to CME integration lab. Without breaking NDA, does anyone know
if this topic is fair game? I don't see any mention of this on the Ask
The Expert forum. Did they discuss this topic at the CCIE Voice
session at Cisco Networkers?

I've done several UCCX deployments before and am fairly comfortable
with it, but must admit that I'm not experienced with a UCCX to CME
setup.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Gatekeeper-Controlled ICT & MTP

2010-08-17 Thread groganhockey
All,

I'm trying to understand a behavior I'm seeing in setting up a GK-controlled
ICT between UCM clusters.

When I place a call across the GK-ICT, the receiving cluster attempts to
allocate an MTP for the call.
On the trunk:
MTP Required is not checked
Inbound/Outbound Fast Start are not checked

>From reviewing the traces, I see the MediaManager and
MediaTerminationPointControl services working to allocate an MTP, so it does
not appear to be a transcoding issue. It appears that the software MTP
allocation fails and the system allocates a HW transcoder.

This is confirmed if I set the regions to all G711. The call still invokes a

Is this a function of the GK-ICT in general? Or is the UCM trying to add an

Any thoughts are welcome while I continue to test.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] MGCP please add to first mail on Mgcp.

2010-08-17 Thread Graham Hopkins
Exactly, my point was that if you understood how MGCP works you would not be
surprised to see this nor would you want to remove it.

If you are asked in the lab to debug a non-working MGCP configuration (say for
troubleshooting) then a knowledge of the MGCP protocol and messages in some
details could be required, suggest you start here:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_IOS_Voice_Troubleshooting_and_Monitoring_Guide#Troubleshooting_Cisco_IOS_Voice_Protocols

This is what you would expect to see when using MGCP with an T1/E1 ISDN
interface. The whole point is that MGCP backhauls the L3 signalling to CUCM.
That is to say that Layer 2 signalling is handled by the router and Layer 3
signalling is handled by the CUCM. So in order to understand how to implement
this fully with a Publisher/Subscriber arrangement you'll need to study things
such as :

How do I set up a backup CUCM?
How does MGCP failover from the primary CUCM to the backup CUCM ?
How is MGCP restored from the secondary to the primary CUCM ?
What happens to my voice gateway if I lose connections to all the CUCM servers.
How do I continue to make and receive calls?

Regards

Graham

2010-08-17 Thread Pavan
It means layer 3 is being backhauled to ccm bcoz you have an isdn bind-l3
ccm-manager on the interface.
Consequently router may not have any/correct information about layer 3.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] When you pass the lab, is there anything different in the e-mails they send you?

2010-08-17 Thread Paul Kruger
Yeah, from what I've heard, the Friday test-takers usually wait until
Tuesday to get their report. For the rest, it's the next day. You should be
getting a mail fairly soon. Log in, and let us know? :)

All the best!
