I would just like to be sure I understand,
1 upgrade the machine to 10.x. Presumably a Sub.
2 Then backup the upgraded machine with DRS.
3 Restore the backup to a new Pub 10.x VM
4 add the subs.
Right?

Agree with Wilson, I Upgrade the machines to 10.x, backup with DRS, restore
the the publisher in the new OVA with 10.x and install subscribers as
needed. The cutover must be clean if you dont upgrade the firmware for all
the phones at the same time, just make a controlled upgrade for the phones
later. I did this a couple of times and the downtime is just how long the
equipments take to swap from publisher to subscribers.

Hi,
I have done a few 10.x upgrade from 7.x and 6.x.
I didn't use the prime collaboration.
One thing you may want to do is, one you upgrade the systems to 10.x,
take
a DRS backup and restore it on a 10.x OVA

I just used Prime Collaboration Deployment (PCD) and product worked
great but was also full of bugs. The biggest issue we faced was on the
night of the cutover a lot of things didn?t work like Ringlists,
Extension
Mobility, and Corporate Directory. TAC had to gain root access to CCM
and PCD was the primary account listed for all the services. TAC had to
change each entry to CCM and then things started working. I spent about
8hrs with Cisco TAC working on various issues listed with PCD. I think
PCD is a great concept but Cisco needs to work out the bugs. I would
use
caution if you are going to use PCD. Hope this helps.

folks,
we have plan to upgrade UCM, CUC, Presence from version 8.6 to version
10.5 (around 1000 users)
And we are using new server upgrade.
- I am looking for advice on detailed steps ?
-what is the best scenario to minimize the downtime ?
- do I need to use PCD ?
tks,
