Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Virtualized UCCX

2013-02-11 Thread Ravindra Lakpriya
HI Todd,

Its a bit time wasting activity.

1. Install Cisco application operating system 2003.
2. Once installation completed reboot from windows 203 standard edition cd.
3. It will detect that you already have a windows 2003 instance select it
and press R for repair it.
4. In that process it will ask for windows 2003 license information as
well.
5. After that install vmtools and check whether you receive any
notifications for the windows activation.
6. If there are no notifications go ahead with Cisco UCCX application

Take snapshot before starts playing with it. otherwise u ll have to do
the installation again.

thats it :)

Dont go through the painful procedure of installing and converting your
Cisco windows appliance version. straightaway install it on the ESXi or
Workstation. Create a vm with 2 GB memory and 160 GB hard drive. Install
from the Cisco OS cd. before installing UCCX repair your installation with
the windows 2003 cd.

Then its done :)

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Setting up LAB envirnment for testing QOS

2009-12-29 Thread Ravindra Lakpriya
 Hi Guys,

In my home lab i have connect 3 routers back to back using
 Fast Ethernet interfaces.

How can i simulate a restricted bandwidth between these interfaces. I tried
with rate-limit command, but i'm bit confused about it and once i rate limit
to incoming traffic im loosing the connectivity to the router. if you guys
have proper link about this rate-limit command please share.

or else is there any other way that we can restrict bandwidth in FE ports
??

as far as i know GNS cant simulate E1, T1 and 2800 series routers so this
much be like 60% compliedU can do it with vmware and few 2800 series
routers.

nice to discuss issues and challenges to get the most out of it.
Currently I'm running some issues in Unity Connections where it doesn't
do anything after you punch in the pin and next you find out the ports
gets unregistered. If I make it bypass it then it works ok, UC is a
memory hog and currently am running it on 2GB.

Please reply to this post so maybe we can form a study group helping
each other on issues faced in the lab setup.
Maybe start something on google wave.

 Thanks.

 Matthew,

A lot of people suggested the CCIE Voice Exam Quick Reference Sheets from
Cisco Press when I was taking the written. Since that exam hasn't been
updated I would suggest that as well. I think its about $20 and requires
Adobe Digital Editions since its only available as an e-Book. It covered a
lot of the areas I needed to be pointed in the right direction and I
recommend it too. It made the difference between a narrowly failed attempt
 and my eventual passing.

Stick to it. I wish I had taken mine closer to finishing the CCVP due to
 the overlapping topics.

Dell 2900 Dual Quad Core with 24G RAM and plenty of fast storage
running NFR 7 kit pub/sub, unity cxn, presence, uccx all no problem. I
am also running MS AD for integration when that comes.

 2 x 2811 w/PVDM2-16
 1 x AIM-CUE
 1 x HWIC-9ESW
 1 x 3745 w/ 30DSP AIM
 2 x VWIC-2MFT-T1
 2 x VWIC-1MFT-E1 (actually I believe one is combo E1/T1)
 2 x 3750
 1 x 2520 for FRSW
 1 x 3620 w/16 con port for term srv
 10 x 7960

I know I need to get some newer phones. My main question is about PSTN
router, which I don't have at this point. Should I repurpose the 3745
as PSTN and add a 2801/2811 or what are thoughts here? Any other
 recommendations?

 I also have a UC520. Maybe I could use that for a branch gateway/UCME/
CUE and repurpose 3745 as PSTN? Only problem with this is it is
currently serving as home phone system so wife and kids will be mad if
 I take it away :-)

 Thanks,

 Jason

Interesting about the ESX vs workstation. My workstation needed
activation. Click on the balloon, it tries to register and tells you you
have an invalid key. Enter in the new key from the CD Sleeve. It attempts
to register again and should succeed this time. Trick is you have to give it
Internet access which on workstation, set the vmware network card to NAT and
it should pick up your internet connection from your host PC. If not, you
can phone the new key in to MS. They give you a channenge key back, you
 type it in and bingo.
