ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR POSITION IN EXPERIMENTAL

BIOPHYSICS/STRUCTURAL BIOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE



The Department of Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology (BCMB) at
the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT) is soliciting applications for a
tenure‐track position at the rank of an Assistant or Associate Professor to
begin on August 1, 2018. BCMB (https://bcmb.utk.edu) has 40 active faculty
with core strengths in experimental and computational structural
biochemistry & biophysics, plant/microbial biology, and developmental
genetics. We seek applicants who use experimental structural or biophysical
approaches to study complex cellular, sub‐cellular, or molecular systems.



Assistant professors will be required to develop an innovative and
extramurally funded research program that complements existing areas of
research within the BCMB Department. Associate Professors will be expected
to have established and well-funded research programs. UT is located near
the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and candidates interested in
developing collaborative research programs with ORNL are encouraged to
apply. The successful candidate will benefit greatly from available
computational resources, the on-campus National Institute for Mathematical
and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) and the UT-ORNL Joint Institutes for
Computational Sciences, Biological Sciences, Advanced Materials, and Neutron
Sciences.  The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking a
candidate who has the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the
diversity and intercultural goals of the University.



Applicants must have a doctorate (PhD or equivalent) and postdoctoral
experience in an appropriate discipline with evidence of high quality
research. Also important, is an interest in teaching biochemistry and/or
physical biochemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
