[ccp4bb] Opening for Postdoctoral Fellow / Habilitant in Structural Biology at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany

2023-10-04 Thread Eckhard Hofmann

Hi all,
we have an opening in our group for an enthusiastic Postdoc/Habilitant.

The Hofmann group is located at the Ruhr-University in Bochum in the
metropolitan Ruhrgebiet in the center of Germany.

Projects in the group target biological hydrogen production,
photosynthesis, membrane transport and plant enzymes utilizing
biochemical, biophysical and structure based methods, including X-ray
crystallography and CryoEM.

You are expected to be taking responsibility for one of the project areas.

If you plan to build up your own research profile, we strongly support
you in applying for individual project funding.

The position has a medium term funding perspective, if you plan to
pursue a habilitation on your way to your own independent research
position. Both faculty and university have mentoring programs assisting
you as well.

Due to some teaching at the undergrad level, at least basic command of
german is highly desirable.

The position can be filled immediately, but don't hesitate to contact
me, if your current position is still ongoing.

For details see our webpage (https://www.bioxtal.rub.de) or drop me an
email.

Eckhard

[ccp4bb] Faculty Position, Structural Biology, University at Buffalo

2023-10-04 Thread Andrew Gulick
The Department of Structural Biology at the University at Buffalo, part of the
Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical sciences, is recruiting for faculty
positions in the department at UB. This is a great opportunity to be a part of
the growth here in Buffalo.

New York State, SUNY, and UB are currently making a solid investment in faculty
recruitment and a number of other departments (both in the Med School and in
Chemistry) are currently recruiting. For the ’23-’24 academic year, we have ~15
new faculty who have just joined the basic science departments in the School of
Medicine and another round of hiring is underway for Fall of 2024.

Please feel free to forward the posting or the link to our position to any
qualified candidates. As part of a medical school, we’re particularly
interested in people who apply Structural Biology tools and methods to
important biomedical problems and who can potentially interact with faculty in
other departments.

UB Jobs Posting Site*

https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/38319

(*The Department of Structural Biology made one hire last year. As the posting
has remained open for the second round this year, the website still says FY
2022-2023. We may or may not be able to get that updated – administrative red
tape and all – but the link above is correct)

Best wishes,
Andrew

[ccp4bb] A postdoctoral fellow position in Bethesda, MD

2023-10-04 Thread Pazgier, Marzena
There is an immediate opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow to join a
research team at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences
(USU, https://www.usuhs.edu/) in Bethesda, Maryland in the lab that focuses
on understanding mechanisms of molecular recognition in human disease with
the goal to translate that knowledge into medical applications. Our lab (
https://scholar.usuhs.edu/en/persons/marzena-pazgier) applies structural
biology, structure-function analysis and other biochemical and biophysical
tools to elucidate the molecular basis of the mechanisms involved in
adaptive responses to HIV-1 and SARS-CoV2 with the ultimate goal of
generating basic knowledge and developing new vaccines, small compounds or
antibody/protein therapeutics. Strong research interests in protein
engineering and structural biology, including molecular cloning,
protein/antibody/envelope glycoprotein expression and engineering, X-ray
crystallography and Cryo-EM are required for this position. Qualified
candidates should have a doctorate in biochemistry, molecular biology,
structural biology or a closely-related field. Candidates at the early
career stage are strongly encouraged.

Candidates need to be highly motivated individuals who enjoy working as
part of a dynamic, collaborative and multidisciplinary team. Preference
will be given to candidates with exceptionally strong experimental skills,
a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, and a demonstrated
commitment to basic and translational research.

USU is in Bethesda, MD directly across the street from the NIH, and is
therefore part of an extraordinarily vibrant local biomedical research
community.

To apply please contact Dr. Pazgier at marzena.pazg...@usuhs.edu.
