[ccp4bb] 2024-I SwissFEL call for SFX proposals - Deadline 15.09.23

2023-08-10 Thread Beale John Henry
Dear all,

I would like to draw your attention to the latest call for proposals for serial
femtosecond crystallography (SFX) experiments at the Alvra, Bernina and
Cristallina experimental stations of the SwissFEL ARAMIS beamline at PSI:
https://www.psi.ch/en/swissfel/users-and-calls.

Proposal submission deadline: 15.09.2023 (midnight CEST time)

Proposals evaluated: 16.09.2023 – 31.10.2023

Beamtimes scheduled: 01.01.2024 – 31.07.2024

Alvra is an ideal location for jetting-based sample delivery techniques, such
as the HVEs and GVDNs, whereas Bernina offers a highly adaptable sample
position environment for user defined sample-delivery platforms. Both Alvra and
Bernina offer femtosecond pump-probe measurements. The Cristallina station is
the home of fixed-target delivery methods at SwissFEL and can offer nanosecond
SFX pump-probe measurements. Please use the contact information below if you
have any questions.
Cristallina also warmly welcomes proposals from users looking for short
beamtimes (<24 hr) for straight SFX measurements, perhaps for membrane protein
and/or radiation-damage free structures.

A pipeline for pre-characterising samples prior to applying for Alvra beamtime,
in collaboration with the beamline staff, is available and strongly encouraged.
Please contact Emma Beale (emma.be...@psi.ch) for
details.

Our colleagues on our soft X-ray beamline, ATHOS, are also warmly accepting
proposals but these may be less applicable to common structural biology
questions.
