Dear all, Umeå University offers four postdoctoral fellowships – read the text below. Project #13, #16 and #17 are in structural biology https://www.umu.se/en/work-with-us/postdoctoral-scholarships/6-489-24/ The Chemical Biological Centre (KBC<https://www.researchgate.net/jobderef/1008692/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.umu.se%2Fen%2Fchemical-biological-centre%2F>), jointly with several departments at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), offer four postdoctoral fellowships that will be affiliated with interdisciplinary projects (see list below). The selected candidates are expected to start as soon as possible. The application deadline is 9 April 2024, 14:00 CET. The Postdoctoral Programme is funded by the Kempe Foundations and aims to encourage new synergies in interdisciplinary research, train outstanding young researchers, and stimulate cutting-edge research in Umeå. In this call, four (4) postdoctoral fellowships are open to all nationalities. The Postdoctoral Fellows will: * Develop a collaborative project under the supervision of two PIs; * Obtain a 2-year full-time fellowship exempt from tax (350,000 SEK/year), supported by grants to the PIs for project running costs (150,000 SEK/year); * Have access to core facilities and technical platforms such as Chemical Biology Consortium Sweden (CBCS), Protein Expertise Platform, metabolomics, proteomics, X-ray, NMR (850-400 MHz), Umeå Centre for Electron Microscopy (UCEM), and Biochemical Imaging Centre Umeå (BICU) that form a node in the National Microscopy Infrastructure (NMI); * Participate in activities to strengthen networks and collaborations in academics and industry; * Be involved in the strong postdoc community, Umeå Postdoc Society (UPS), which fosters networking and career development and organises social events. The projects are within the general fields of infection and plant biology (two strong research environments in Umeå). Many have a structural biology component. The EC fellowships are constructed to encourage early independence, and come with both a consumables budget and funding for networking/travelling. One project is a collaboration between myself and organic chemist Christian Hedberg. We are looking for someone who would like to combine methods from biochemistry, bio-organic chemistry and cryo-EM to uncover mechanisms of novel anti-parasitic compounds.
