[ccp4bb] 2-year postdoctoral position available - Structural Microbiology, Institut Pasteur

2019-05-20 Thread Marco BELLINZONI
Dear all,
A 2-year post-doc position is currently available at the Structural
Microbiology Unit, located at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.
Our team has been working on the molecular mechanisms underlying the metabolic
plasticity of Actinobacteria, with a special emphasis on the signaling pathways
involved (for an overview of the topic and our recent work, please see Wagner
et al., Sci. Signal., 2019; Bellinzoni et al., Genes Immun., 2019). The
postdoctoral fellow will join an active and multidisciplinary environment,
working on Corynebacterium glutamicum enzymes and protein complexes involved in
central metabolism, and applying an integrative structural biology approach in
which cryo-EM plays a key role. The project is part of a French-German
initiative funded by the respective national research agencies (ANR and DFG),
and will be performed in collaboration with the groups led by Profs. Michael
Bott (Forschungszentrum Jülich) and Bernhard Eikmanns (University of Ulm).
The Structural Microbiology Unit is fully equipped for microbiology and protein
biochemistry work, and has a well-established network of collaborations. In
addition, the institute’s campus provides a vibrant scientific life as well as
access to excellent core facilities. A full range of state-of-the-art equipment
for structural biology and biophysics is available, including a Titan Krios and
two Glacios microscopes currently undergoing installation. The unit has also
regular access to synchrotron beamlines for X-ray crystallography and SAXS.
The position is open from October 2019, although the starting date may be
arranged. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic PhD with a good publication
record and a solid background in protein biochemistry and biophysics. Good team
spirit and presentation skills in English are essential; experience in dealing
with large macromolecular complexes, protein-protein interaction studies and/or
cryo-EM would be an asset. Interested candidates should provide a full CV with
a summary of previous research experience, a brief statement of interest on the
position and contacts of a couple of referees to marco (dot) bellinzoni (at)
pasteur (dot) fr. Please send applications or informal enquiries no later than
June 5.
Best regards,
Marco

[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral position - Structural Microbiology, Institut Pasteur

2013-10-26 Thread Marco Bellinzoni

Dear all,

a 2-year postdoctoral position funded by the ANR (the French National
Agency for Research) is available at the Structural Microbiology Unit at
the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

Our team has been working on the regulation of central metabolism in
Mycobacteria, with particular emphasis on the role of GarA, an
FHA-domain protein that turned out to act as a regulator of a few
central metabolic enzymes - a control level that seems to be unique to
the Actinobacteria phylum. The project in which the postdoctoral fellow
will be enrolled aims at isolating from the source organism (top-down
approach) and/or reconstructing in vitro (bottom-up) a central metabolic
'supercomplex' from Corynebacterium glutamicum, and possibly the
non-pathogenic Mycobacterium smegmatis, in order to characterize it by
an integrated structural biology approach (X-ray crystallography, SAXS,
cryo-EM).

The lab is fully equipped for recombinant protein expression and
purification and interacts closely with a number of facilities (e.g.
crystallography, macromolecular biophysics, microscopy) providing access
to state-of-the-art equipment and located a few steps within the
institute campus. Regular access (on a monthly basis) is also available
to MX and SAXS beamlines, both at the Soleil and ESRF synchrotrons.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic and self-motivated PhD with a
strong background in protein biochemistry, and experience in dealing
with multi-subunit macromolecular complexes. Familiarity with SAXS
and/or cryo-EM would be an asset. The position will be available from
March 2014, although the starting date may be arranged.

If interested, please send a CV with your publication list and detailed
research experience (including contacts of a couple of referees) by
*November 15* to marco.bellinzoni at pasteur.fr.

Best,
Marco
