IIRC, the DECtape file structure is documented in the Monitor Calls manual.
The disk file structure is not, though there are many references to
Retrieval Information Blocks (RIBs) and such.

course taught by Mike Bennett at UWO in the early 1970s.
The monitor at the time was likely prior to 5.06.
