I've just been doing some reading on the subject. Even if it is deployed, that doesn't mean it is configured or started. It looks like authconfig handles the vast majority of the work involved in authentication configuration in CentOS. I'm assuming anyone who wants to use sssd will know how to alter the authconfig to allow that. If not, it can be reviewed in a different HOWTO. Yeah, that looks like a good idea. [CentOS-virt] Having trouble starting more than 8 Xen guests
All, I've spent quite a few hours trying to figure this out to no avail... I have two machines and the result is the same on both. Additionally, each machine does not support full hardware virtualization... I am able to create 8 VMs. When attempting to create ninth VM, I get the following error: Error: Device 51712 (vbd) could not be connected. /etc/xen/scripts/block failed; error detected. To create the VMs, I use the command: xm create [vm name] My machine has 8 GB RAM and is an old school dual opteron box. uname -a is: Linux centos-host-2 2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.centos.plusxen #1 SMP Wed Sep 7 06:25:54 EDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux To be clear, I can shutdown any one of the 8 VMs and then run the ninth xm create - that VM will start... I did some google'ing and from what I cn tell that error arises due to the lack of loop back devices (there being 8 by default)... I've tried both using MAKEDEV (in my /etc/rc.local) to create a number of loop back devices and put max_loops in my grub,.conf file. For example here is what I have in grub.conf now: title CentOS (2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.centos.plusxen) root (hd0,0) kernel /xen.gz-2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.centos.plus module /vmlinuz-2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.centos.plusxen ro root=LABEL=/ max_loop=64 module /initrd-2.6.18-274.3.1.el5.centos.plusxen.img Due to wrapping, max_loop is actually on the module /vmlinuz- line... I also tried to put max_loop on the kernel line as well... As I mentioned above, I also created the loop back devices from /etc/rc.local like so: /sbin/MAKEDEV -d /dev -m 64 loop And, once I can log in to the machine, I do see everything in /dev (for example /dev/loop0 to /dev/loop64) Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you resolve it Thanks ahead of time! Scot P. Re: [CentOS] 6.1 Update request
Just ordered a Lenovo TS130. I think there are some issues with the Intel graphics with 6.0 and I saw where they are resolved in 6.1. Hopefully 6.1 can be released soon. If not, I can install Scientific Linux temporarily. Fingers crossed!! Or, just grab the intel xorg driver rpm from SL, and libdrm, and one other package, the nouveau rpm. It doesn't make sense to go all the way over to SL if you plan on coming straight back. I simply installed CentOS 6.0, downloaded kernel from SL6.1 repo, and installed it. Basically this is what was needed to make Intel graphics work, I think there were 1-2 other rpms I needed to upgrade too to fix dependencies, but this was easy to notice during the kernel install. This way the system automatically will roll back to pure CentOS when newer CentOS 6.1 rpms will be available. -- TiN ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

The protocol will probably be first a private word to repeated instigator of noise off the mailing list, and then a silent moderation of that person; there is also the capacity to close down further posts on a subject line in Mailman, and we may use that as well I considered and proposed a formal and public nomination and voting system but this was probably geeky technical overkill. Also it would have required material coding to get up and running, to address what is, in the end, simply sustained bad behaviour by a few serial offenders. We'll be trying what in already in Mailman first I'm not happy about this moderation, but as one of the other stewards said: some of these conversations are really getting out of hand, the level of OT isnt even funny anymore.
