[CentOS] CentOS 6 and XDMCP

2013-06-25 Thread Dirk
Hi all,

I am trying to use XDMCP from a Mac (OSX Lion, XQuartz) to an updated
CentOS 6 64Bit host.

I am tunneling through SSH, so I use XDMCP on the remote host locally
via Xnest like this:
> ssh -X -C -l $LOGINUSER $HOST -n "Xnest :1 -ac -geometry 1440x850
> -once -query localhost
I get a black screen without any login window or desktop background.

My /etc/gdm/custom.conf looks like this:
> # GDM configuration storage
> [daemon]
> [security]
> DisallowTCP=false
> AllowRemoteRoot=true
> [xdmcp]
> Enable=true
> [greeter]
> IncludeAll=true
> [chooser]
> [debug]
According to the howtos on the net this should be sufficient, so I am
quite stuck. How can I figure out if this is a problem of the CentOS
config or of XQuartz?

Any hint or help would be appreciated.

[CentOS] DL380g8 - smart array B320i - CentOS 6.4

2013-06-25 Thread Sergio Alex

Obrigado.

The best place to report this is #centos-devel on irc.freenode.net -
everyone with the ability to do something about it, lurks there.

Ah, good to know. So the method I found, actually one suggested to me from the
XFS list was the only solution.

It wouldn't work. If you snapshot a filesystem (XFS or Ext4) with an
external journal, you'll need to create a new one or modify the snapshot
to specify no journal.

I've started a project to handle these things automatically and make it
easier for everyone to make backups using snapshots. Initial work is
here, and I'll be picking it up again when I'm back from Prague.

I'll be adding support for XFS, NetApp, and btrfs soon.

Ah, I guess I missed the significance of the word "suppose"...

I don't believe that is possible. ^C is not part of the data stream read by the
program.
What happens is that when you press ^C, your terminal driver notices it,
swallows it,
and sends an INTR signal to the process attached to the terminal. It is that
INTR
signal that kills the program, if it has not been written to capture and handle
that signal.
When reading the data from a file or here document, that data doesn't go via
the terminal driver.
