Re: [CentOS] Virtual host package, command line, I need help

2011-10-13 Thread Christopher Hawker
Sorry if I seem a bit dumb in this question, but are these virtual
servers going to be used in a production environment or are they test
servers? Also, in my experience, using a GUI on a server is not really
necessary, as everything can be done from the command line. Yes it may
be easier to do it with a GUI, but if you know what you are doing and
what to do it professionally, stick to using the command line and
give the idea of using a desktop the flick.

I believe that there is a bug with what you are trying to do and your
english. I would suggest submitting a bug report, but unfortunately I
don't believe that even CentOS' best coders and engineers can write a
patch for that.

Re: [CentOS] Hello from RAQport Please remove this post

2011-09-26 Thread Christopher Hawker
What a way to find problems... I would suggest submitting a bug report
but seeing as how delayed you might me Alex with replying to a post
made over 4 years, it would be a waste of time, because the bug is
within your abilities to provide a response in a timely manner. I do
not believe that even the very best CentOS coders and engineers are
able to code and apply a patch to that type of bug.

This is just a random idea, but could you have burned the cd at a
speed higher than the optical drive can read? I burn all my software
at 4x because i know it will then work in any and every machine.

I could not see any issues with it. As you probably know i386 packages will
work on an x86_64 install, and there are some packages written for i386 that
you can't get for x86_64. You could disable it, but my system runs perfect

[CentOS] Issues with successfully completing rsync with msync.centos.org

2011-09-12 Thread Christopher Hawker
Hello,

I am trying to establish a mirror, and when I execute the rsync command, it
only creates the directories and selected files. It does not download the
entire iso collection or repo files. I am running CentOS 5.4 (which i will
update soon as my host does not have a 5.6 or 6 image), and my IP address is
125.7.120.87, being hosted in Sydney, AU. Any ideas or suggestions would be
appreciated.

Roughly, how much disk space would I need on my server to mirror the entire ISO

[CentOS] Mirror hosting ideas

2011-09-02 Thread Christopher Hawker
Hello all,

I am interested in personally hosting a mirror for CentOS 5 and 6 (not
at home, but in a DC, with the future of going colo whe I have the
monetary funds to do so). Would anyone have any recommendations on
this and whether or not I should set the cron to use the rsync
command or have the rsync command in a batch file and tell cron to
execute the batch job. I am thinking the second option, simply out of
convenience. Unless anyone can see an issue with this. Thanks guys in
advance for your help! :)
