[CentOS] frr packages for CentOS 8
Hello, I'm not seeing free range routing (frr) packages for CentOS 8. Without wanting to be too provocative, I am running Fedora 21 on a workstation and Fedora 20 on a laptop. I can't see myself ever running an OS based on either of these for a server. It's about that whole **d thing. [CentOS] Is anyone using C7 in production yet? (sssd, nss-pam-ldapd, kerberos, etc)
Hi all, Is anyone using C7 in production with LDAP and kerberos? Currently all of my machines run C5 or C6 with nss-pam-ldapd or nss_ldap, with kerberos and pam_krb5 for authentication. Also I am not necessarily replying only to John, but to the thread in general :-) Where I work, a number of staff are being given ipods and ipads to use corporate web applications. The system is eventually going to completely replace a network of thin clients around the place. In my opinion, the touch screen creates a whole new paradigm for computing. The downside of this paradigm shift, is that our employee facing systems do need to be updated to fully support touch screens. In our tests, we have found users WANT to use an ipod to help them with their work. And when they use an ipod, they take more pride in their work, and make less errors. And when they do make errors, they tend to fix them on the spot. This all has something to do with CentOS in a round-about way. I am using CentOS to host our corporate web apps in a tomcat6 instance. [CentOS] PE850 Interrupt conflicts on CentOS 5 and onboard ethernet and pci-e serial
Hello, I have an interrupt conflict between a two port pci-e serial card and the onboard ethernet controllers in a PowerEdge 850. I'm running kernel 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5PAE with bios revision A04. In every instance, the two serial ports have been allocated the same interrupts as the two ethernet controllers. I have tried many kernel boot options, including acpi=off, pci=noirq, acpi=noirq. When I enter the bios, I can see the same interrupts allocated to the serial ports and ethernet controllers. Attempting to change the interrupts manual causes both a nic and a serial port to both change, both to the same interrupt. I have even tried disabling onboard usb and serial with no change. I'm beginning to think the pci-e serial card is broken under linux. I have a similar card running on a PE850 under Windows Server 2003 and there are no such conflicts. Hello, The kernel was updated today to the latest, but I have also tried the previous few kernels. The machine was recently updated to the latest bios revision for a PE850 (A04) which was included in my post. I apologise for posting the corporate email sig, but your post really isn't much better. Do you have any real advice or experience with this model of server running CentOS/RHEL? Or were you only really posting to complain about my sig and disclaimer? Another vote for Thinstation. We netboot it on a number of wyse models, 5125, 5150, and V50L. Running a backup or secondary MX at this point is largely a waste of time. The only thing a backup MX gets you is an increase in spam. Most MTAs will retry sending every couple of hours. So if your MX is down for a while, it's not really a big issue. I run a cluster of sendmail servers (at MX 0) with spamassassin and clamav, and it works quite well. Provides redundnacy and scalability, without the nonsense of a backup mx. The last backup MX I ran was probably retired at least two years ago, and even then it was well past pointless and irrelevant. There's another issue with using Firefox as the admin client. It *might* let you in, but the console plugin doesn't appear to be working again. Only client that works for me is InternetExploder. From memory, here is how you do that: 1. Get a copy of vmware-vmrc-linux-x86.xpi (mine was in /usr/lib/vmware/webAccess/tomcat/apache-tomcat-6.0.16/webapps/u i/plugin/vmware-vmrc-linux-x86.xpi) 2. Rename the file to vmware-vmrc-linux-x86.xpi.zip 3. Unzip the file Now run vmware-vmrc or pass some info like capitalized below: vmware-vmrc -h HOST:PORT -u USER -p PASSWORD That's really cool, and probably way more elegant than using the web browser plugin. You don't need to downgrade for the whole OS, you can just do it for VMware. See the procedure in the first comment in this bug http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=3884.
