 Hello,

I am using Centos 6 with 389 DS. Everything is working, I can
authenticate my users against it etc.

Now I am trying to make Samba authenticate against the LDAP by
 following http://directory.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Howto:Samba

However, it seems that Samba does not read the 'password' value, but
'sambaNTPassword'. I wrote in 389-DS mailing list and they said, that
there is no way to make Samba read the 'password'. So I must end with
two password (Samba and normal one). I can not sync them, since crypt
algorithms are different and I can not just copy/paste the password to
 sambaNTPassword.

Did someone else had this issue? I need some file sharing software (can
be even a web application), which can authenticate against LDAP, so all
the people have one password for authentication.

a lot of different ways to handle this - it all depends upon which
 language/tools you use.

I have used Webmin LDAP Users Groups module which can set the
sambaNTPassword and userPassword to the same value after encryption.

I have also written a framework application in ruby on rails for my current
employer which does this and much much more.

There is also a smbldap-tools perl toolkit which can integrate with samba and
 can do the same thing.

[CentOS] foo2oak-wrapper

2011-02-16 Thread Hal Davison
Well...Greetings

A client bought for me a HP Color LaserJet
1525nw printer.

Installed on the local network as
192.168.1.117

A Google search brings back a number of
conflicting options. Before I ball things
up to much, I thought it best to check in
for additional advice.

The CUPS installer is complaining that it
cannot locate the foo2oak-wrapper...and
that it should be installed before using
the printer.

Yum is like me, clueless.

I've not done this with a printer on CentOS, but have on
FreeBSD. Do you really need CUPs for a printer that is
hung off the network? (eg. not plugged directly in to the PC)??
It might just not be in the std. distro. A couple-three years ago, I
bought a 1020 for myself, and had to find the driver and build it. Since
then, I've found them. You might either ask HP what driver to use, or see
 if CUPS recommends anything.

Hmmm, I just brought up CUPS, and started walking through installing such
a printer. I see there's a 1500 driver. Should I assume you did all this,
and it can't find the .ppd? If that's the case, I'd question whether CUPS
 was properly installed.

Instead of blowing your top, why not read the FAQ on good questions that
 was linked to you?

 - Your question was vague
 - You showed no steps you took to try and solve the problem
 - You started a new thread with the same question rather than
 elaborating in the existing thread.

If you see people asking questions and getting help, and then you ask a
question that does not get an answer, than perhaps you should look to
see how those questions differed. Yelling on the channel is certainly
not the difference and it definitely won't encourage people to help you.

Thank you for your advice and understanding...

We've seen enough please do my homework' type posts that we're studying
the matter how to correct it.
At the current nonce, castigation seems to be an effective response.

Basic requisites for help (in lieu of flaming) is to specify the version
of CentOS being used, and either detailed failure report (what happened
when OP tried something) or a description of the previous attempts to
address the problem (such as the OP's analysis of SpamAssassin to a
sendmail.cf entry to deal with spam from Korea, or some similar
indicator that the OP is working on a real problem, not looking for a
 tutor/doer for a homework problem.

Who DIED and WHO is now claiming to be GOD?
If somebody dying is a requisite, I volunteer. I hurt to damned many

As to being God, I'll let everybody export their own value of $DEITY.
Mine is set to chocolate, and it's staying that way.
