Re: [CentOS] Firefox fix
Well, it fixed the firefox crash, but now 115.7.0 locks up CentOS 7. The only thing working is the mouse cursor. Clicking the mouse on anything has no affect. Keyboard ctrl-alt-del has no affect. The computer has to have power removed and then restored and rebooted. So now I've had to revert back to firefox 102.15.0. -From: jefflp...@twc.com To: "centos@centos.org" Cc: Sent: Tuesday February 6 2024 1:28:55PM Subject: [CentOS] Firefox fix The latest upgrade of firefox to 115.7.0 appears to have fixed whatever was causing version 115.6.0 to crash. ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos /> ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

Firefox crashes (disappears) and I get a cryptic (to me) message about some security violation. I did not save that information. Do you use the TST colored tabs add-on? I can describe the same behavior because of it. Once disabled ffx is back. I don't know what TST colored tabs are. I have several add-ons such as Noscript and various video downloaders. They appear near the top of Firefox. Regards, -- wwp ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

Referring to it as "Recent ... yum upgrade for firefox" is relative so hard to respond to. The output from a "rpm -qa ..." command would be useful. I'm using: firefox-115.6.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64 and also: firefox 121.0.1 (64-bit) -- from the Mozilla repo and am not seeing issues with either. The version I downgraded to is 102.15.0. Re: [CentOS] How will fragmentation help Red Hat
Somehow the text of my message got deleted: I'm still using CentOS 7 because both security and stability are important to me. While CentOS Stream may, or may not, have comparable security, it is severely lacking in stability. IMHO both CentOS 8 and CentOS 9 are gigantic piles of garbage. When the time comes that CentOS 7 no longer meets my needs, I'll be switching to some other distro, most likely Debian. [CentOS] Perhaps trivial problem but important to me
I have two computers: CentOS 7 (KDE 4) and CentOS 8 (KDE 5). I'm also an avid Doom player (yeah, I'm an old geezer). On C7 using prboom v 2.5.0 and a graphical interface I wrote to select a wad file to play without using the command line, everything works fine. On C8, using the same prboom 2.5.0, graphical interface, and the same SDL libraries, the video is "jerky" - every 2 seconds or so the video stops for a fraction of a second and then restarts. This makes game play a bit irritating. This problem does not occur when playing videos with mplayer, also using a graphical interface I wrote to select files to play. I've looked at system settings, checked process usage using ps and can find no reason why there is a difference between playing Doom in C7 and C8. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Sorry, my misunderstanding. The version I gave is the version of CentOS7, the version of LibreOffice is 5.3.6.1-25.el7_9. -From: "Pete Geenhuizen" To: "CentOS mailing list", "H" Cc: Sent: Thursday November 3 2022 7:52:59AM Subject: Re: [CentOS] LibreOffice on CentOS 7 Why not simply download the latest and greatest version LibreOffice from their we site I've been doing that for several years on both Centos 7 and now Rocky 8 and it has worked without fail.
