You will likely need to install the drivers from the brother website, but my experience with them have been exemplary. My current printer is an MFC-J4620DW and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Also, even with one of those Multi Function things it is nice to have a printer that works every time. Personally, I prefer a printer to print and a scanner to scan and a fax machine to fax. I have picked up the HP LaserJet 1022n on eBay. It is black and white only, but works well with Linux and all versions of Windows I have available. They are generally inexpensive on eBay and the tone is cheap. I can get 4 toner cartridges for around $25 on eBay. It is small, dependable, and makes a good second printer. Most printing is usually black and white. I actually have 3 of them and am happy with them. 3 is because I officiate at skating events and bring my own printer plus a backup. You may want to keep this in mind. If anyone can suggest what configuration change I need to make, it would greatly appreciated! So far I am having smooth and functional experience with Kyocera multi-function devices. They connect easily to the main samba active directory domain controller and there is a decent Android app for wireless or network printing. PPD driver works in fedora but haven't tried with centOS yet. You apparently need the latest sane, which is more recent that CentOS provides. I suppose they are good as door stops. I've used Samsung in the past and Linux support is poor, but just usable. My latest is an HP MFP M281 which so far seems to perform well and the control interface works with Linux.
