Actually, yes. I use a bridge to connect to the lan, where
guests obtain addresses thru DHCP, but I have no issues
assigning addresses by hand either. 

That host machine has at least two nics. One for the host,
and one shared/bridged for the guests.

If there's any config files you're interested in seeing, I
could post them.

Are you using bridged networking?  I think it has something

my network.
